Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died.

Watch Trump try rush through another supreme court justice before November.

And there goes the election, and whatever is left of American democracy with it, because the election will probably end up in the Supreme Court

The last five years feels like a very unfunny joke

100% certain Trump will railroad a joke justice through now

I'm off social media until after the election, but I will make an exception

Due to their absolutely disgraceful behavior during the Kavanaugh hearings, the Democrats deserve to have this one rammed right up their holes.

The notorious RBG. RiP

If  McConnell pushes through a nominee after blocking Garland in 2016, Trump will probably lose and the GOP will probably lose the the Senate.

The US is a mess.

Whitey: Your timing on this demonstrates you have all the grace of a forced bowel movement.

The least surprising comment ever made on this board. His mask slipped a long long time ago. And as if he was taking time off social media. He couldn't wait to run back in and gloat. His post history regarding RBG speaks for itself.

smelmoth

Terrible news on RBG. It has to be hoped that the reviews of her life and career will shine a light on decency, reason and learning. It would do no harm for the American electorate to reminded of these values and their merits in the run up to the election

It's very much regrettable that Trump will get a go at a replacement.

The evidence that Donald Trump is an idiot, lacks human decency, has no grasp of the importance or complexity of international relations, struggles with fact, logic and cause:effect is overwhelming. It would be terrible if his presidency was given enduring effects but it now seems likely via a SC appointment

seafoid

It's likely that the Dems win the Senate and Presidency
The way the SC is chosen is not a law of nature. It will have to be changed to deal with issues such as climate change.

trileacman

Didn't know anything about her but the American tripartite division of power is a balls. It quite stupid to declare Supreme Court justices for life, would make much more sense to just have a fixed term appt. it leads to changing of the Supreme Court staff at the random call of death, which is a poor structure along with being macabre.

If Trump and McConnell do this, there needs to be a serious f**king backlash.

Make it a massive election issue, get the vote out, take back the White House and the Senate, and ram their cynicism down their throats by adding a few justices to the court.

The Dems have been pussies for far too long.

If Biden wins and the Democrats take the senate - and that appears a long shot to me at this stage - the Democrats should expand the Supreme Court to 15 and ram through the most left-wing justices they can find, as well as massively expanding the judiciary nationwide as a whole - which is already long overdue

And make DC and Puerto Rico states

The reality is that as long as the Democrats don't have the presidency and the senate, another liberal justice will never again be approved

If Biden wins and the Democrats take the senate, the gloves need to come off, it needs to be absolute war, and the right-wing needs to be totally obliterated - because the right-wing wants to totally obliterate democracy and any sort of reason

screenexile

Sad to see Ginsberg die she seemed like a decent person and a real advocate for good government and woman's rights it would be great to get someone of a similar mind in there!!

If you didn't think things were a bit mad over there already shit is going to get crazier!

Hear bloody hear. This tyranny of the conservative minority has gone on long enough. Time to get the sword out and fight back for once.

We only need a handful of GOP senators to block a Trump SC nomination, and so far there's a chance of holding it off until after the election. Dems are slightly favoured to take back the senate according to the latest polls.

An expanded SC with term limits is the way to go. If it doesn't happen, what's left of American democracy will die and The Handmaid's Tale will start to look like a documentary.
