A seeded championship draw would keep the league alive until the last game of the season. Every team would be playing for position. Top 8 teams in pot 1 can't draw each other in the opening round.

It might take away from the potential 1st round draws but the other rounds would still serve up mouth watering ties and the spectacle that we have enjoyed in recent years.

Be a good idea that.

Edendork fielded 13 players at the weekend.

So have Carrickmore won the league then or not... could County Board still rule in favour of Errigal and get the final league game on TyroneGaaTV? £££

Still awaiting confirmation from the Ulster council on their verdict I believe, not sure what the plans are for this weekend. Play the game and winner takes all IMO

Who ever wins the league it is completely meaningless anyway.
A league title that was won off the back of teams not fielding, playing dummy teams, giving others the points. For example would Errigal score 7 goals v Ardboe in normal circumstances, would Carrickmore thrash Clonoe. Its a completely meaningless league title whoever was to win it.

No such thing as a meaningless league title. All teams benefit from playing teams toward the end that have no motivation to perform, but similarly, all teams play their games up to that point, fully motivated. There were four teams taking the drop this year. This year in particular, all clubs took the league seriously until the point where their fate was decided. Any team that wins a league, wins it on merit.

Exactly. No sense in rubbishing a league which has been well run in trying circumstances because the motivation of a few teams towards the end of the year dipped. This is better than the top 4 playoff model.

100% agree at the start of the year there are only 2 trophies available. A league victory should not be rubbished. It's a great achievement for any club at whatever level they are playing at. Good luck to carrickmore, they have been the most consistent club this year. This could be the trigger they need to push on and get back into the big time making themselves a championship prospect.

Why??

Seeded draw based on league positions would be a great idea
Would make leagues competitive to the end

Would be a great idea. That's why I don't think they'll ever go for it.

If you really wanted to add value to the league by linking it to the championship then the bottom 8 teams would play off in round 1 of the championship. The 4 winners would go to round 2 where they would play the teams that finished 5-8 in the league. The winners of those games would then play the top 4 from the league in the quarter finals.

But Tyrone has a brilliant championship so I don't think there'd be huge appetite to change it. Next year the league should be completed pre championship - this will help take away from a lot of the messing about end of season carry on when teams have switched off for the year.

Talk of league not starting until end of July next year due to the split season.

sam03/05

Is that not what a split season is all about? Clubs have called for this for years. Clubs would play all their games with county players, the entire season without any interruption. Would only be two counties who would start up at end of July (all Ireland finalists) otherwise the leagues can start after Tyrone exit, could be May, June really, depending on how successful they are. It's the fairest way to run the season .

Will there be no play-offs etc? What happens if the team that wins the Intermediate championship had finished bottom of the league

Thats happened before Killyman!

Also a version will happen this year again. Moortown will likely finish in a relegation place but will go to Senior as they won the Championship.
