Hand me down clothes (Trousers had to be 6 inches up your leg before you moved them on)
Fashion didn't exist until you were 13
Teachers sending kids to the shop for staff room bickies
Space invaders

When I was in P3, I went home for my lunch every day. The teacher got me to bring her back 20 Embassy Regal cigarettes from the local shop. 26 pence a packet.
I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence

I used to be sent over the road to the newsagent across from our National School, for an Old Holburn tobacco pouch. Our teacher used to roll his own. He'd give me a penny change and tell me not to spend it all in the one shop.

This is like that Billy Joel song when he lists everything as he grew up... we didn't light the fire.!

Now then..

Tomahawk and Chopper Bikes..
Cadet Cola adverts on Tv
Wearing Sunday Best to Mass - ie shirt and elasticated tie
Cartoons on RTE from Poland and Czechslovakia
Cap guns
Everybody smoking..
Priests visiting the house
Rusty cars
The Brady Bunch
The Beverley HillbilliES
Knitting

PS - Grifters and all forms of video games were all 1980s

I used to love the magic Pencil
RTE not coming on until 5 and then having one hour of childerns programs so if you didnt like that one . no TV that day  i still remeber the disappointment when youd hear Seame street was over for the summer and the 'Electric Company ' was replacing it or when disney was coming on and you hope for a cartoon but instead you get a program about a stupid bear hibernating for the winter , Ive hated Wildlife ever since
If you make yourself understood, you're always speaking well. Moliere

I feel for you. Spend a couple of hours there in summer. What a shithole. Can't imagine what it was like back in the 70's!
