Title: Largest town/hamlet without a chapel or church?
Post by: thewobbler on October 30, 2019, 03:35:27 PM
For no good reason at all I've been pondering where you might find the largest town in Ireland (or the world) that doesn't have a place of religious worship.

Google seems to be struggling with this one. I doubt though we'd get to a four figure settlement before the proponents of the God fella get involved.

Anyone able to shine any local knowledge?

I suspect on the world stage that China might have a few surprisingly large settlements without any place of religious worship* given the state attitude to organised religion.

*at least in the sense of the 'Abrahamic religions'. Obviously there are lots of traditional temples.

I thought Pyongyang would be free of any publicly recognised buildings dedicated to Christian worship, but apparently there are a few...

There is a doc on netflix about NK, he was brought to mass to prove that they allowed religion. Not one person involved knew the words.
