General discussion / vegetarians

Its been just over a year since I went Veggie. Curious to know if there are any other Veggies on the board?

I was massive meatie before turning veggie and had a big soft spot for chorizo.
Changed because of the horrible way in which meat is produced, cruel and horrible unethical. Meat is very unenvironmentally friendly.

Since turning I have never felt healthier, have reduced cholesterol and have lost weight.

General discussion / The Real Ale thread
February 06, 2015, 11:34:15 PM
So tonight I sampled old peculiar, Newcastle ale and now on to old speckled.

OP - was a darker ale than I have had before, but lighter tasting than a shout.

NA - I really like this beer, possible too drinkable.

OS - Nice complex light beer, very tasty.

Tomorrow, I have some Hobgoblin, Dooms bar and Black sheep, Looking forward to them all.

General discussion / What defines sport?
December 15, 2014, 01:09:19 PM
Had a great debate with a mate about what sport is, I argued that the snooker was a sport but he dismissed this.

What defines sport? where do you draw the line?

Is fishing a sport? how about a game of football? Poker for money? Is Ran Finnes a sportsman?

General discussion / minecraft - short rant
September 16, 2014, 03:38:27 PM
I don't get it.
You build something and then blow it up.
The graphics aren't great. The game play is awkward.

Whats the point of it?

General discussion / Linkedin and Local SEO
July 19, 2014, 01:12:56 PM
Work has demanded that we get a company presence on Linkedin to hopefully generate some leads and new business. I have been tasked with getting it up and running.

I'm still quite new to Linkedin but have managed to set up a company page. However having done some reading we could do with having more followers/likes to stimulate some debate and clicks on the homepage. Does anyone have any experience of using Linkedin for companies? Any tips? Warnings? Advice? All gratefully heeded

Next up is the use of google and local SEO. Any success stories?

I'm only to aware they these can be very powerful but can also be a massive drain on time and resources.

Hurling Discussion / Helmets
March 30, 2014, 09:00:55 PM
Been back at training today, forgot my helmet. We had a game of back and forwards, I haven't played so well in years. Was seeing the ball like a beachball, savage hurling!! One of the lads went off and i threw his helmet on, Jesus i couldn't see anything, couldn't pick or catch ball and the shooting was right out the window.

This got me thinking, has anyone tried using one of these http://www.hockeyoffice.com/mission-m1501-hockey-helmets-incl-concept-2-visier-black/hockey-store/shop1prodview_iM1033710_cgb_uGBP.html?lik=SITEGAWP-M1033710.2&lik2=&pk_campaign=GAWP&pk_kwd= in hurling? Similar price to Mycro but you'd be able to see the fecking ball!

We're buying a house and thinking of getting some help from an IFA rather than a bank, in order to get the best rates and some protection.

Has anyone ever used a IFA?

General discussion / TV Licences
August 23, 2013, 10:32:12 AM
Apparently 1 in 10 court cases are now for non-payment of TV licences... I couldn't find anything about it on the BBC website funnily enough (or the Guardian):
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/bbc/10256679/TV-licence-offences-account-for-one-in-ten-UK-court-cases.html

180,000 people last year! 2/3 were women.

Does anyone dodge the inspectors? When I was student, I never anwsered the door without a phone call first, for fear of a fine

General discussion / driving debate
August 15, 2013, 09:43:49 AM
This has been doing my head in for ages. Older drivers hovering down the motorway at 50 or flying down country lanes at 60. I believe older drivers are as dangerous as young new drivers.

In the pub the other night my mate suggested that everyone be retested every ten years. Do you think this would fair? Could it work? Would the roads be safer?
