Maybe they know something we don't, but even in the press pics he looks like a man who isn't sure himself why he was picked...

Hallgrímsson was also joint manager of his Iceland with Lars Lagerbäck when they reached Euro 2016, beating England in the round of 16 to reach the quarter finals.

Not a bad achievement?

Definitely a good achievement. Looking forward to  seeing what he does

GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh v Kerry
July 10, 2024, 01:56:06 PM
Quote from: tbrick18 on July 10, 2024, 12:01:21 PMI think this game will play out a lot like the Derry game.
Kerry will concede kickouts as their midfield are not great, so if I was Armagh I'd def push up on Kerry kickouts and force them long where Armagh have the advantage.
Tally has them coached to play the defensive game as well as anyone, and while they have the better fowards of the 2, they get frustrated against that walled defence and make mistakes.
If Armagh can keep it as a borefest, they could sneak it. If Kerry get ahead by a few points by the last 15 Armagh will have to push up and leave the back door open a little.

I think it'll be a very physical game with plenty of off the ball antics - who is the ref? A fussy ref issuing black cards could well swing the game.

I think Kerry will win, but a 1 point victory for Armagh wouldn't be a surprise either.

Odds on penalties?  :o

Quote from: imtommygunn on July 05, 2024, 08:51:51 AMThere's 8 unionist MPs in total so you would have thought this was a unionist front? Alliance only got 1 seat which must be hugely disappointing to them.

9 nationalist 8 unionist and 1 alliance. Is that the correct reading of it?

In fairness think Alliance always going to get it tight in East Belfast and North Down.  Happy for Eastwood in Lagan Valley

Eastwood just another one looking for the higher MP salary

What makes you say that?  Would you rather some of the other candidates in LV got in?

That's two different, unrelated things, I could care less who gets in as none of them have any clout or influence in WM.

Eastwood the same as Swann, Nicholl in South Belfast & Claire Hanna previously - sitting MLAs that just want to get to Westminster for the vastly superior salary & expenses.

thats a bold statement

Quote from: LC on July 05, 2024, 07:46:12 AMIt would seem now that SF rule the roost in NI in terms of councils, Stormount and now MPs.

To an extent you could argue that the councillors and MLAs do a bit and you would see them in the local media.  But what have the MPs done / will do over the next 4 years? A lot of their MPs have been re-elected and I would say in the lead up to the election I had not come across them much in the past 4 years.  The likes of John Finucane has a bit of a profile and while obviously he is not over in Westminster he is not sitting in the house scratching what with a legal practice to run and all that. If you had asked me to name others I would struggle and indeed as they keep a low profile what do they actually do other than lift the big ££££ and claim every expense going?  Mind you I did see in the Ulster Herald a few weeks ago your woman in West Tyrone, cant remember her name, taking credit for Gortin Main Street getting resurfaced.....wonder what her objectives are for the next 4 years, fixing potholes in Plumbridge and Greencastle?

Fair play to Pat Cullen and her victory, a shame she will be sitting on the sidelines and not being allowed to do anything.  Not saying she could work miracles but it would have been good to see her in Parliament raising the issues of the NHS in NI at a national level.  People in England think the NHS is bad over there, here it is off the charts.

By the way great to see Ian Og getting the heave ho, there will not be to many holidays now.

guess youre not a SF fan? "your woman". Quite disrespectful

The tinfoil hat brigade blaming nanoparticle aluminium chemtrails as part of some wider geo-engineering conspiracy 😃. Presumably Barra is part of a deep state cabal.

where do they come up with this crap?

Quote from: lurganblue on July 04, 2024, 11:46:00 AMI see Carla has been issuing out emails trying to rouse the troops.

"By voting Lockhart X you can ensure continued representation at Westminster. If you dont vote or split the unionist vote you will have an abstentionist MP with NO VOICE and NO VOTE."

Seems that she is quite concerned. I'd be surprised if she was caught really.

On the  'great smells' thread , someone talked about unionist desperation (that was the winner  for me btw)

We're seeing it  more and more. That's another example

read today that her emailing people like that was a breach of GDPR

2 good mid-fielders (assuming O'Reilly is sold) should we sign Barnardo permanently?. I think we should he's only 21
2 good wingers
1 Striker (I'd look to sign Idah but send Oh out on loan and buy another striker)

Far more concerned about the lack of movement on the transfer front than steel girders for Ibrox lost at sea!  No movement at all on illdecide's list above that I totally agree with.

Goalkeeper situation should have been sorted months ago.  I understand it must be difficult to sell the Scottish league to top players but the current Board's transfer record fills me with dread!

have to agree, though I thought we were on the verge of signing a keeper?

Lol

I know of one local constituency where an anti migration candidate got more votes than the 2 Sinn Fein candidates combined

Would you regard that as a wipe out for SF?

lol lol lol lol

SF got 102 council seats in what was rightly deemed a poor showing. Far Right Parties (and no Aontu are not far right) got 4 I think. That is a wipeout. Your knuckle dragging inbred wankers are not wanted in Ireland so get used to it.

So based on your logic, candidates from parties like PBP "are not wanted in Ireland".

The candidates from the "far right" also helped push out losers like Clare Daly and Worzel Gummidge and got people with common sense (as it pertains to migration$ like Mulooley and McNamara elected

They also prevented Sinn Fein from getting a bunch of seats

BTW

The 2 SF candidates in that constituency I mentioned , combined, got less than 25% of the FPV the sitting SF TD got in the last GE

A collapse of epic proportions

just out of interest what percentage of their candidates get each party get elected and how many did they run?
