GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh v Kerry
On a refereeing angle, was the Kerry goal not a square ball incident? the Kerry player was already inside the square when the ball was played across to him.

Was it not extremely harsh for that Armagh player to be penalized for over-carrying late in normal time, I counted 4.5 steps. The ref did okay overall  but I thought he was extremely lax on the Kerry 'tackling' technique which other refs have not tolerated.

Probably the most idiotic comments ever seen on this forum denigrating Clifford, one of the greatest  and most elegant footballers of all time. Stupidity knows no depths.
Congrats to Armagh and  like Kieran Hughes I thought their goose was cooked in the first half  but there was a confidence in the team that wasn't there last year. Probably even would've won a penalty shoot out had it come to that.
To those who say Armagh were great yet say Kerry were crap, make up your minds, it's not both.

Russia invaded Ukraine, not both sides are at it
Russia is bombing the sh'it out of all and sundry in Ukraine, rape, pillage and plunder.
Not both side are at it bull.
The only nations that Russia  haven't invaded are those who are members of NATO.
The Baltic nations had to fight tooth and nail for NATO to accept them as members.

Russia has the intention to bomb pillage and plunder their way across a sovereign independent nation,
there is no both sides are at it bullshít.
The Kremlin is a permanent source of toxic sludge propaganda  and have no qualms about sponsoring such harmful hybrid warfare incidents against Ireland.

The Kremlin lie about everything all of the time, that's the default starting point before anyone can make some sense of the rest.
This is a war of ugly aggression by Russia against Ukraine. Russia is off begging help from China and North Korea whilst Ukraine are begging help from the rest of Europe, USA, Japan, Australia and Sth Korea.

You can shove the both sides are it spiel up where the sun don't shine.

Quote from: Itchy on June 29, 2024, 01:44:58 PMI don't know about conspiracies but there is just no way Biden could be doing his job day to day. He is probably needing 20 hrs sleep at this stage.

Maybe, maybe not. Debating is a lot different from governing where they're surrounded by advisors and can take time to weigh and make decisions as opposed to trying to score points in the moment on live TV after major cramming sessions.

Regardless, the performance aspect is part of the job and, fair or not, Biden is past it on that front. Trump is a lying, corrupt, ignorant, amoral but dangerous and authoritarian buffoon, and Biden needs to stand down or Trump will be back for another four years.

Debates are really just an opportunity to show you can think on your feet or deliver a well timed clever one-liner

They really aren't an indication of one's ability to govern

Yeah, but since then, supposedly someone in the know hesitated when asked would you stick Biden in a room with Putin! Then you have the Times reporting he's at his best 10am-4pm or whatever it was!

Add to that that the obvious response to a debate horror show is to get out there, do a few tough interviews, and show the country that it really WAS just a bad night and not a typical day.

But he hasn't been seen, apart from a few short teleprompted comments.

IMO it's done. Biden cannot recover from this get re-elected, which means Trump WILL get re-elected unless Biden drops out. It might not work even then, but at least a young, capable candidate would have a fighting chance given the opponent.

I'm hoping there are some horror polls in the coming week which close the case for him and his inner circle. Unlike the Trump cult, it should be about the country and the party, not the person.

Trump spent the equivalent of a year of his presidency (cheating) on the golf course.
Even a decrepit Biden  outperforms a functioning Trump, just how bad does that make Trump?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly did Trump do (or didn't do) that makes you think he did such a poor job?

He was right on the border

He was right on foreign policy

He was right on tax

He was right on the economy

Just out of curiosity?? ;D  not on a quest for knowledge but just a passing curiosity. It would be surreal in the extreme to answer someone who does ask a basic question but then goes on to  boldly state that Trump was right about major issues.
"I haven't the time nor the inclination" to engage.

Speak for your own gullibility :)

Meanwhile back on the Front, see just how a World superpower army´s busiest unit evacuate the fallen.

My hopes were up when I saw thread was active, I thought there had been a signing.
Best to keep hopes on standby.

I think the Mayo game took its toll, Derry were well into that game until Kerry (without doing much different)  went points ahead and Derry started misfiring everywhere.

When it comes to the 1/4 finals, all teams should be on an equal footing with at least a 2 weeks gap from their previous game.

Quote from: lenny on June 29, 2024, 07:20:20 PMShould have been a penalty for Dublin there. Cons shot was blocked by the upper leg of Galway no 7. Definitely a foot block

It hit his leg. Wasn't blocked by leg.
Yes but he lifted his foot by 1cm to make the contact, therefore a nailed on foot block.

I thought both teams were throwing the game away in the last 5 mins but Dublin were better in that department. That was a brilliant 2nd half from Galway considering how the first half went and with Sean Hurson gifting the Dubs an easy late free.

Quote from: maldini on June 25, 2024, 08:01:24 AMBrolly starts the podcast this week by mocking Dion saying it's a soccer thing making it all about the manager, when they're talking about Derry beating Mayo

Dion rightly says that he's been making it all about Harte since day 1, Brolly waffles some answer about tactics not answering the question.

Remember he said continually in the autumn and winter that he wouldn't be going to any Derry matches when that c***ts in charge, in between crying that we all have to be more kind to everyone

He's like a broken record and Harte has probably got more support as a result of Brolly's incessant abuse. I'd have more sympathy for him now than I had when he decided to jump ship and take that job to begin with as no man deserves that level of vitriol. If he won the All Ireland with Derry and roared into the mike at Brolly in Kieran Donaghy style, I think a lot of people would take great pleasure in hearing that.
Joe the narcissist would just love a mention of his great self at such a time and revel in the attention similar to when Donaghy at the peak  of his sporting achievements in the most public of situations was thinking of Joe Brolly. As it stands now I hope Derry can go all the way but  should it transpire I'd  hope the creep will be totally ignored.

Apart from his preferred sandwich, a bit too communist for my taste (but at least he got to ate them frequently on AI final day) he was and will always be legend.

Quote from: armaghniac on June 25, 2024, 12:25:57 AMLook lads, you are not codding anyone.
Russia invaded Ukraine, they started the war, they caused all the deaths and destruction. At any time they can stop the war, go back to their own country and the deaths and destruction will stop.

Tell me you`re an idiot without telling me you are an idiot ::) !

I note that you did not refute any part of my post but merely abused the poster. That's par for the course.

So Russia strolls home and everything is rosy in the garden , this is idiotic "logic" ! The Ethnic tensions in the region is the reason Russia went into The Donbass . The persecution of the Russian Community mainly in Donetsk and Luhansk is the reason Russia responded as they did !
More Horse box shíte.
Since the 1920's the Soviet Union has used the ethnic tension excuse to suppress ethnic culture, language etc and impose Russification as the solution, burn the ethnic textbooks, wipe out the history and impose the Russian language. Exactly the stuff what is happening in occupied Ukraine now.
You just parrot the century old Kremlin lies, not even realizing the parrot is long dead :D
Only a total useless idiot parrots this guff.

Meanwhile at Euro 24, at the match between Ukraine and Belgium, fans unfolded a banner of fallen paramedic Nazarii Hryntsevych, who went under call sign Hrienka.
The banner read "Peace has a price"

It is composed of 182 pictures of fallen Ukrainian soldiers who used to be fans of Ukrainian football clubs.
