GAA Discussion / Re: Sligo V Down Rd 4 Qualifier
July 27, 2010, 03:43:00 PM
The stats show that it was impossible  for Sligo to beat Down on  Saturday:

Dublin (2001) are the only beaten provincial finalists to have won a fourth-round qualifier tie on the following weekend since the back door was opened nine years ago. Eleven others tried and failed (when Monaghan and Sligo are included). There must be a few bob to be made at the bookies using these Stats.!

Makes sense really as the physical and psychological effort expended in playing and losing in a provincial final needs more than a few days recovery time.

Walshe more or less said the same thing before the match was played  -:

The stats do not look too too good for Sligo on Saturday:
From today's Indo:
Dublin (2001) are the only beaten provincial finalists to have won a fourth-round qualifier tie on the following weekend since the back door was opened nine years ago. Nine others tried and failed.

Makes sense really as the physical and psychological effort expended in playing and losing in a provincial final needs more than a few days recovery time.

Walshe not very happy either -:

The Meath football team have surprisingly voted against giving Louth a replay, that looks like the end of the debate.
This is according to the RTE news at 10::00 am.

I thought it was bad enough on first viewing but it was never replayed, Crawford didn't make a meal of it which is probably what saved him, think it's only fair that it should be highlighted athough it will probably only add to the Kerry conspiracy fringe if nothing happens...

Wouldn't worry too much about the Kerry lads,I think they are well able to look after themselves.

Its not possible to win matches chopping and changing the team for every match ( and during the match !).
After nearly 4 years in charge JOM should know his best team by now,he does not seem to have any faith in
the players that he picks,he drops them like a shot.
If he has no confidence  in the players that he picks how does he expect them to deliver.

I'm watching the RTO link and listening to HighlandRadio...don't think it's on live though.  Like the half-time entertainment on TV too.
Martin McHugh reckons the ref is doing well, btw.

McHugh is a muppet then.

Galvin & Kennelly are making a huge difference and Miskella is out of it completely.

Cork need the half back line to dominate their players, the need to at least break even in the middle but Colm O'Neill is still good enough if they can get the ball to him.

Pat Spillane thought that  the Kennelly incident was a send off offence, but then he is biased !!
