Opening game massive for both Laois and Longford who ever wins that will have a big say in what happens later on. Andy Moran will be expected to deliver for Leitrim although Keith Beirne is a big loss.

GAA Discussion / Sigerson Cup 2024
January 08, 2024, 08:55:55 PM
Maybe I missed it but I don't see anything about the Sigerson Cup it starts tomorrow. I was looking at the age of some of the players involved this year and some are in their mid 20s. Any thoughts on who's going to win it also with the new fixture set up has it damaged it.

GAA Discussion / Re: What do we do now!!!!!

In my County the League is over and most Clubs have 3 Championship games played with 2 to play and at least one knock out after that. While it looks very good on paper ordinary club players  get 10/12 League games [4 without their county players] and between 6/8 Championship games. They play 2 League games a week one Wednesday one at the week end.

GAA Discussion / Re: The Sunday Game

Commentator said Louth got the equaliser with their last point against Mayo. They corrected himself, they edited out of the Sunday game last night. Camera work not great for Tailteann Cup games also need to play games at smaller grounds. Looks dreadful to see  stands with rows of seats and no one seating in them.

Longford have lost 3 Championship games this summer and get another crack at it next weekend.

Seems like a pointless exercise picking quarter finalists when we don't yet know the draw. But either way its a hell of a lot of matches to play in order to reduce from 16 down to 8 teams and which will be largely predictable in any case.

Agree with You but maybe they [ the Blazers or do the Gaa have them ] will get it right next year.

GAA Discussion / Re: Connacht final 2023

Don't know if someone raised this but less than 25,000 at the two finals. I know we might not have the same draws again for years. Games were very one sided and to ask people to pay 35Euro for stand tickets is a bit much. The only redeeming  feature of the weekend was the Display of David Clifford [deepest sympathy to him and his family] surely he is the Erling Haaland of gaelic footballer. You cannot coach what this lad does.

Longford should get out of the Group. A lot of games to get rid of a handful of teams. But look let's give it a try. Going back to Longford while I expect them to advance I don't think any of the games are real crowd pullers. Can't see supporters getting very excited over playing Carlow. Limerick or Wicklow.

Best chance Leitrim had of reaching a Connacht final. Was looking forward to the build up to the Semi final with Sligo. Will be very hard to lift this panel of players for the remainder of the season.  Will Andy Moran hang around for next year?

Really enjoyed highlights show on Sunday night lots of games covered over all 4 Divs. Still not sure how it is all going to play out. But really great to have the football back.

GAA Discussion / Kerry Club Football
January 17, 2023, 07:07:28 PM
Can someone please explain Club Football in Kerry. How many Clubs what leagues and Championships they play in and of coarse how can the Clifford's play for a Junior club and play county football. In most counties a Junior club player would not get a look in at county level. I ask several people this and no one can explain it. Finally I think the Gaa should say a big thank you to David Clifford just look at the crowds that came out to see him play for his club in dreadful weather over the last few weeks.

Thought the Galway Goalkeeper lacked confidence and give away 2 frees that were pointed. If Cluxton was between the sticks for Galway Sam would be at the Races this evening.
