Referee was just okay, made mistakes for both sides but didn't make any match changing bad decisions so I suppose those mistakes were not highlighted as much. However an inexperienced referee should not have been appointed to referee a national final in the first place.

Kerry deserved the victory I thought. The great unspoken is the fact that Dublin will clearly struggle to maintain the hunger levels this year. After today I would think that Kerry will be the team to beat this year. The reality is that Dublin should have lost 3 games in this years national league but Kerry, Tyrone and Monaghan all bottled it with the winning post in sight. They have been stumbling their way through games and a few of their bigger players look past their best. They will still cruise into the last 8 but the manic aggression needed to win an AI in the modern era will be absent when needed most. With a lot of big players to come back into that Kerry side I think they will take all the beating and could dominate over the next 5/6 years with a lot of talented young players coming through.

It's the glove slap. The Dubs have felt their honor has been insulted too many times by opposition players not spilling up the ball to them, now they wear dueling gloves and go around slapping in the tackle.
It could have evolved in 2012, around the time of the Simpson glove slap episode when Homer got inspired after watching Zorro in the cinema.

The Dublin bench as ever made a huge difference, Gavin was probably too slow to make changes although in fairness to Brogan & Andrews there wasn't a whole lot of ball coming their way during the 3rd quarter.

Kerry were deserving winners but still think they lack pace in that forward line, that forward line won't beat Dublin come September. JOD was obviously missing yesterday but his injuries are starting to mount up at the moment so you have to wonder about his future.

Looked like he pulled his hamstring after that goal so I'd imagine that he was unavailable yesterday. Has had ongoing hamstring issues for a while now.

What game were you watching where the referee and his assistants out of their depth? and who are the best officials??

The Ref and assistants were good in the Dublin v Kerry final today they played a huge part in allowing a good game flow and thats what any follower of this sport wants to see from officials.

Well, to take one player, James McCarthy assaulted two players most likely with a closed fist in one instance and with enough force in the other to cause the players had to violently rock back.  Philly McMahon should also have seen the line for his closed fist connecting with Kerry players though perhaps without the malice or intention of his team mate.  The lack of consistency increased as the game became more frenetic and yellow cards were dished out in some instances where blacks were needed and in other cases when similar or greater offences had previously been missed or waved on.  Branagan had to spend most of the game trying to keep his inexperienced colleague right.  What was the Cluxton yellow card for?  Was it for something that happened at the end of the first half or before the game started as the linesman held the ball in the middle having sent the referee to deal with the goalkeeper.  Failing to deal with Kerry players being hit on the back of the head, falling to the ground clutching their faces and then taking a look up to see if a card was being used only to realise the referee was no where nearby.

If Dublin has the best referees as residents, then it would be expected that a referee with greatest experience at the highest level would have been appointed.

There have been 35 games in the National League this year, but today's referee, Paddy Neilan has refereed only three League games this year - two in Division 2 (Derry v Down, Down v Galway) and one in Division 3 (Sligo v Armagh).  Last year, was appointed for only one Division 1 game and did not feature beyond Round 4 of the qualifiers in the championship.

Ah come on, fair is fair the ref done a good job today.Always amazes me when some one who is at least 60 yards away from the play thinks they can see better than some one who is no more than 10 yards away from the play

The rules let the ref down yesterday and yet again it was the cursed black card.
I won't stick up for Tyrone very often but if they had committed the 2 black card offences that Kerry did yesterday then there'd be
national uproar but we daren't say anything bad against kerry. Brolly would have had a field day on the Sundasy game.
The one in the first half was pretty much the same as what cavanagh did to mcmanus a few years ago and then
the other one in the last minute was just outrageous cycnicism (that was rewarded). Maybe if the punishment for those kind of
offences was anautomatic penalty or 14 yard free then it might stop. Instead we now have black cards for stupid things while the
very thing that it was supposed to address continues
