No.

Let the clubs of the individuals concerned pay for the privilege. Some of us want nothing to do with this and will object strenuously if there's an attempt made to land us with the bills.

Why did Killoe refuse to fulfil the fixture?

Rte say its because of 'an outstanding issue'. We can't really make a call on this without that piece.

The allegation is that a player on the opposing team had been given a straight red in a match only for the referee to be pressured into changing the red to a second yellow. The referee subsequently sent in a letter to a county board meeting confirming that he had been so pressured. There is an overlap between the individuals alleged to have applied the pressure and the individuals behind the current sanction.

I am told that a member of the Killoe club when notified of the intended sanction offered to pay the outstanding fine himself but the offer was refused and the sanction imposed regardless.

My experience is that some leading individuals associated with Killoe tend to lack tact in terms of their interactions but it does not justify anything that is going on at the moment.

A new low in this case allegedly happened on Tuesday evening at an U 10 blitz in Killoe. A call was made to the referee coordinator about 2 Emmet Óg club people, who are official referee's and giving their time refereeing the kids learning the game. The caller informed the coordinator that they should not be reffing because of the clubs suspension and for the coordinator to put a stop to it. That the news of the suspension was only breaking, this individual was aware of all what was going on. How much lower can these sleevens drag Longford

This weekend's matches:

Group 3:

Fr Manning Gaels v Carrickedmond, Friday, 8pm, Kenagh.

Group 1:

Mullinalaghta v Rathcline, Saturday, 7pm, Ballymahon.

Group 4:

Granard v Abbeylara, Saturday, 7pm, Edgeworthstown.

Group 2:

Clonguish v Mostrim, Sunday, 6.30pm, Carrickadorrish.

Would favour Carrickedmond, Mullinalaghta (if we can't beat a Division 2 team we can forget about it), Abbey and Clonguish for those matches.

There are no championship betting markets at the moment, presumably because of noises off.

Fr Manning Gaels 1-12 Carrickedmond 0-12

First surprise of the weekend and hard to see Carrickedmond making it to the quarter-finals unless one of their opponents are somehow suspended for 48 weeks. (These days anything is possible.)

Good to see "FOX40WHISTLER", who is very well-informed as to the shitstirrer faction's case, sounding off on H*g*nst*nd. Someone so articulate would be an obvious shoo-in for county chairman should the current incumbent fall off his perch somehow.

Granard 1-12 Abbeylara 1-6

Second major shock of the weekend as Abbey need to beat Dromard next weekend to survive.

Mullinalaghta 4-14 Rathcline 1-10

Was starting to look like a third major shock when we were a point and a man down just before half time but we looked death in the face at half time and decided we didn't want to make a closer acquaintance just yet.

Clonguish 2-12 Mostrim 1-15

Mullinalaghta and Granard are through to the quarter-finals (along with Killoe if the ban was overturned).

If the ban is overturned then a draw between Killoe and Mostrim would see both teams through at the expense of Clonguish. A certain prominent member of the Hearings Committee might be about to learn about the Law of Unintended Consequences  8)

Watched Mostrim v Clonguish on the telly. It was a pretty good game and could have gone either way.

I do think Killoe (hopefully the issues will be resolved) will go out to hammer Mostrim so that Clonguish and all who sail in her will qualify.

I really do think this.

Honestly.

This weekend's fixtures (provisional edition):

Group 1:

Rathcline v Colmcille, Friday 8pm, Monaduff.

Only a win will do Rathcline and it's likely to be beyond them. Rathcline are quick and Colmcille wasteful but it's unlikely to cause an upset.

Group 3:

Carrickedmond v Longford Slashers, Saturday 7pm, Ballymahon.

Carrickedmond at least do not have far to travel for this one and the journey home for them is unlikely to be a happy one.

Group 4:

Abbeylara v Dromard, Saturday 7pm, Newtownforbes.

Abbey have landed themselves in an awkward spot after last week's shock but they should still have enough for a Dromard team who seem to be flagging.

and subject to successful arbitration:

Group 2:

Killoe v Mostrim, Sunday 6.30pm, Gijón Abbeylara.

Killoe are automatically through if reinstated. Clonguish have to hope for a Killoe win by 6 points or more or a five-point win with Mostrim scoring 8 points or less to go through. Just as well, really, that no senior figure in the Clonguish club might have done anything over the last few weeks to antagonize the Killoe club.
