Your county in 2022 - Hopes v Expectations

Galway

Hope:
That the evidence in front of our eyes in 2021 isn't as bad as it looks and Galway can have a huge turnaround that includes promotion and a Connacht title. Free hit after that.

Expectation:
League will tell a lot and you'd have to be worried enough, relegation and the Tailteann Cup should be unthinkable but games still have to be won. Div 2 was an absolute dogfight to get out of before and will be no different this time. If Galway don't do it at the first time of asking then we're in serious bother.
Mayo rightly will be warm favourites to win Connacht first round match, hard to envision Galway beating a Mayo team at full tilt and if there's no Connacht title in 2022 then it's the road for this management setup. The bullish All Ireland prediction looks farcical at this stage.

On that, there are no positive vibes about the setup, only concerning rumours. Will players that 100% should be on the panel and in some cases 100% starting on the 15 be involved? If not then why not?
Cooke heading abroad after one year back isn't a great sign. Of course, professional obligations and rightly prioritising the career should be the main reasons but if he thought there was any chance of Galway doing something this year...
Long story short on expectations, at least beat someone else other than Roscommon FFS.

Longer term hurlers (5)  to surpass fuballers (9) in terms of all Irelands.
Mightn't be the worst shout in the world and that's taking into account how flaky the hurlers are. Paul Bellew has talked a good game and there was a lot of merit in his Galway GAA: The Future document that was released prior to him getting the chairperson role, but at the end of the day he's another hurling man.
Where's the long term plan for the footballers to even get back to the big one never mind to win it? It doesn't exit. As an ordinary punter on the outside looking in I don't know what the football board are at, if one semi-final in 20 f**king years isn't ringing the alarm bells what are they waiting for? There's plenty of Mayo football people laughing at the ineptitude and it's hard to say they are wrong.

Hope - Win Div 4 , win Munster final !

Expectation - We should come out of Div 4 , reaching a Munster Final is realistic considering the Draw . We are down a couple of Players from last year but still some really good quality there !

imtommygunn

Antrim

Hope: football promotion to division 2 and beat Cavan in ulster.

Reality: mid table in division 3 and a good performance against Cavan.

Hurling:
Hope: win joe McDonagh and stay in division 1.

Reality: both a tough ask. One of two maybe.

Tyrone

Hope - obviously winning back to back titles for the first time would be nice.

Expectation - lose an all ireland semi final to an invigorated and hungry Dublin.

Connacht v Ulster semi final next year. Are you expecting one of Tyrone, Dublin not to win the provincial title in 2022?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Dublin football

Hope: to make it one-in-a-row

Expectation: team building will prevent us from making it through to the sharp end of the championship

Hope: Dessie abandons the keep ball and lets the players play.  Midfield and forward line good enough to challenge, even if the back line isn't what it was.  Would like to see an attacking Dublin tested against the champions.

Expectation:Semi final defeat, with a reprise of last season's dirge-ball.  Dessie to step down thereafter.

Would wish Mayo win an All Ireland, think these losses are even getting to me.

Connacht v Ulster semi final next year. Are you expecting one of Tyrone, Dublin not to win the provincial title in 2022?

Yes Kildare will win Leinster.

Itchy

Hope: win Div 4 league and make an Ulster Final. Bring through some new players, especially forwards, that look comfortable in ulster championship.

Expectation: Promotion to Div 3, win Div 4 league title, beat Antrim in Ulster.

Armagh
Hope to: Find an entire full back line to stand any chance of consolidating our place in Division 1 or beating Donegal in the championship.

Expect- the above not to come to fruition - Agonisingly lose out on Div1 on status,  gallantly lose to  Donegal by 3/4

IolarCoisCuain

Mayo

Hope: Win All-Ireland

Expectation: Get to the final and lose it, even if it's against Kilkenny, Warwickshire or the New York Knicks. And there's only flipping five of them. Sigh.

Mourne Rover

Down

Hope - get into the mix for promotion from D2, introduce some of our u20 prospects and stay well away from the Tailteann Cup. On a good day, we are capable of putting it up to Monaghan in the championship.

Expectation - a dogfight at the wrong end of D2. The bookies suggest that we may be marginally stronger than Clare and Offaly but it is likely to be a tight finish. If the Monaghan USC game goes to form, regrouping will be difficult.

weareros

Roscommon

Hope: promotion to Div 1, win Connacht and make an All-Ireland semi, win All-Ireland U20, win Connacht minor

Expectation: Retain Div 2 status but miss promotion, win Connacht senior thanks to a good draw, fall just short of winning an underage title

Dinny Breen

Kildare

Hope: Retain Div 1 status, reach Leinster Senior Final and AI Semi-final! U20s to win Leinster and reach AI final!

Expectation: Relegation from Div 1 on 5 points, lose Leinster semi-final to Dublin after extra-time, reach AI quarter-finals though! 20s lose Leinster final to Meath!

Hurlers to win Christy Ring again (Hurling team of the year to watch).
