Unfortunately we didn't have the Delta variant running riot last year.  On the current trajectory, September onwards will be a big mess of positive cases and people isolating with a lot of clubs potentially disrupted.
at last someone else who is living in 2021 - the format is super its just wrong year for it - championships need run off as quickly as we can and players understanD as they dont want unfinished championships

Wake up people

Send in your proposals and format with a new draw, you could possibly video it just show being fair
Its just a bit of debate and genuine comment.  No need to be patronising.

Most of your posts in fairness are sly digs at people in Gaelfast or county committees.  ;)
If that was aimed at me, you're getting mixed up. The more ideas and suggestions are thrown into the mix the better.  Nobody across our county has anything to lose from that and maybe some good ideas might emerge - imagine.

Run the competitions off quickly, Senior and Underage would be my view as covid disruption is on the way, especially when the schools go back.  Why run into the same problem as last year when some underage finals were postponed and never got played.

Unlike in my time. Underage football starts in most clubs at under 6.

From under 6 to under 11 there is a steady flow of players taking up the game and players abandoning the game. My young lad is under 12 and I'm finding there is a fair exodus beginning now. One of the main reasons is we have had the same age group together for 2 years. last year was under 12 and this year it's under 13.

On the other hand Soccer is thriving. A and B teams, lads that are next to useless or handy enough but need a bit of confidence get their chance. Many of these will quit, but not until they are 16 and they realise that soccer is not for them.

My question is: Is it better to get rid of the driftwood early like our local GAA Club and concentrate on the talented players or should we waste time on players that will never amount to anything.
As long as you never come anywhere near my club you can tear away.

Just watched the deferred coverage on BBC.  Marty Clarke is an excellent co-commentator- picks out the small things really well, wee bits of skill etc.  And very respectful overall  to the tragedy which occurred.  Well done.

It's a fair challenge.  There are several named Cups in my divisional board and I can never remember which is which.  An outsider would have no hope.  Same problem at national level and it's actually worse because some of the previous attempts have burned.

Personally I believe the overall answer is staring us in the face - there should be an All Ireland Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championship. That's a well established model across the country with teams playing at the level they can compete and the incentive to climb a grade.  For some reason I'd be happy for my county to be competing for an All Ireland Junior title but would hate to be in a B competition named after someone I've never heard of.

Was chatting to someone through work who lives in England, one of the regional cities. He says he isn't surprised by what happened and that increasingly there is a growing divide and sense of lawlessness from many parts of society. There always been somewhat of a class divide in England but this is now muddied with Brexit, racism, covid all playing a part and there is very little respect in the country. He blames it on the leadership and that people, even those voting for them, don't see leadership or any morals, just people who are self serving and look down their noses at vast majority of population.

He felt the very fact they still so comfortable in power says it all. People just indifferent to their actions and will carry on as they like. Crime, anti social behaviour, poverty etc all dramatically on the rise and it's a powder keg at present. The football give a release but that in time, this will build up again and something else will trigger some wide spread trouble. It's not a happy place with itself at present and money soon run out and real social unrest will follow.
Very interesting. That would be my gut feeling as well. Political leaders who openly lie and are equivocal about racism.  Massive gap between right and left. Many have a superiority complex and as someone said an "unearned arrogance".  It's an angry country which I more than ever don't want to be hitched to.

Keane was bang on when he talked about managers gambling. England are a half decent team but they are too defensive when it comes down to it. They pretty much have two holding midfielders and Kane has to come deep to get the ball. I honestly think the ref not falling for diving last night curbed his game. Also they had no idea what to do with Chiesa- far too direct for them.

There are a lot of scumbags among the fans. When have you ever seen scenes like that in a major tournament this century anyway.

Yeah, early on he did give soft frees for Kane/Sterling dives, but he got wise to it after a while. Kane in particular was shameful.

Italy for all their possession, never looked like delivering that killer blow. A bit like Derry pissing about v Donegal, passing it around so much that the final whistle blew. Italy needed to mix it up. Should have lumped it up to Big Cas now and again to keep England guessing. At times this limited England team were shown up for their lack of quality.
[/b] A good manager, keeper and midfield away from being the best team in the world. An embarrassingly strong attack, Shaw absolutely world class and Slab head and Stones very good as well.
Quite far away then!
I'd put them behind Italy, Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil & Argentina, and Germany will bounce back. Qatar will not go well and Southgate will be run out of town eventually. If he had any sense he'd step away now before the brick bats come out.

Wasn't much in that and yeah England were probably a bit too conservative but they were very close to winning it. They're young and while Southgate made a mistake today they'll learn from this and take it to the next few tournaments. They're very dangerous!

Having said that I really enjoyed them getting beat. While the players seem relatively decent (except for Utd pricks obvs) hits the supporters and media are f**king clowns and they need to wind their necks in!!

They're not far away though!
Relax, you're watching too much ITV!  They had 6 home games and were in the easy side of the draw. That was their chance and they weren't good enough.  They'll not recover from this. In the World Cup they'll fall to the first or second decent team they meet.

Derry looking good so far, should be further ahead
Puke football. Gallagher coaching always deserves a 2 point defeat.

Big Maguire is a handful at corners.  We all love Chielinni, but corners could be a problem for Italy.  Maguire was out-jumping the Danes and they were giants.

We're on an upward curve and it would have been a good year for a tip at the qualifiers - the more time the players have with O'Neill and McGinley the better.  Hopefully they stick around for a while and keep building. And hopefully they'll keep trawling for new blood.  The patronising is sickening, but until we get a few results under our belts over a number of seasons we'll always be Cinderella.  Put up a better fight than Down and Fermanagh.

IMHO just play the game and not a word about it.  It'll just be a big drain of energy if it becomes a talking point.

I enjoyed that Armagh Tyrone game. Lots of pace and attacking football thank god.  Players starting to look natural again rather  than just following orders, Rian O'Neill pass for the Armagh goal was sheer class - vision, weight and angle all perfect.

Tackling was better as well than previous years - always amazed me the amount of stupid frees county players give away and then complain to the ref.  Except the penalty, the Tyrone player  could easily have pressed the attacker  away from the goal instead of fouling him from behind, unbelievably stupid foul in the box.  He actually fouled him twice for good measure!
