He predicted that the S & P 500 could go to 6300, and that bitcoin could go to $115k. Heady predictions but looking more plausible at this stage. This is what happens in bubbles. Just look at what happened in the dot com bubble of 1999/2000.

He did say that after that there would be a massive crash in both so be wary! All we would need is one big bank to fail and we'd almost certainly be in a credit crunch. There are a lot of candidates in the US (and beyond) at the minute.

A recession?

I suspect there will be. Some say it's already started. I dont think anyone really knows for sure. One thing's for sure though, the US is looking at a debt mountain and if inflation returns (or the bond vigilantes keep the 10yr rate high), then the interest on that debt will get out of control. Anything could happen from there.

1st ref couldn't help himself constantly blowing the whistle. Very harsh calls.
2nd ref was what we want. Play hard and fair and he let's it go

Exactly. The first ref stopped the game multiple times for stupid shit.

Still some year for them.

With about 6/7 to go there was a definite foul on McAteer(who is electric) I think, just across from us on the terrace not given, CE bomb down the pitch and score... But Falloon overall was grand

Agreed. We were on the terrace right beside where that happened. Round the neck tackle. To be fair he also gave the Bridge a couple of soft ones. The Bridge gave too many 50 50 passes in the second half. I think a more experienced team would have recycled more when the pass wasn't on. Still, a very bright future for such a young team. Plenty of pace. Padraig and Eamon Young as well next year!

Aye, the Catholic part starts at All Saints chapel and goes out the Cushendall and Broughshane roads. So really on the North edge of the town. The Slemish and Charlie's are the only two nationalist bars. It's a bible belt town on the Unionist side. Still a bitter place although nowhere near as bad as in the 80s and 90s.

Aye, you're right. 2021 census puts it at about 70:30 roughly

Predominantly unionist area is it?

Funnily enough I work in Ballymena and on the way to work it's great to see lads/lasses heading to school with their hurls in hand, I'd say it's nearly 50/50?

Nowhere near 50:50. Probably closer to 80:20 unionist. Most nationalists are in North Ballymena. St Louis is a big Catholic school but a majority of students would be from outside the town.

Quote from: general_lee on November 08, 2024, 09:12:19 AMThey entered the Ulster Intermediate football league this year so they must think of themselves as being an intermediate team.

Jeez, you're like a dog with a bone with this! You'll have to ask them that question. I'm assuming they wanted to test themselves. It's Ulster league so it's hardly relevant to Championship qualification.

Craigbane are Junior because that's where they are at the minute within the context of Derry championship qualifying. Our leagues might be in transition but they gradings for each of the Championships were pretty accurate. Craigbane only beat Slaughtmanus by 1, Glack by 2 and Ballymaguigan by 1, so they hardly tore through the better teams in Derry Junior.

If they romp home in the All-Ireland Junior then get back to us.

They are a decent team but nowhere near competing with the top half of the Intermediate teams in the championship.

You'd have said the same about the Vale last year

True. I'll take it all back if Craigbane make the Intermediate semi next year 😀

He's not wrong but the sad thing is Trump will do very little (if anything) to solve those issues. Same goes for Harris. What we've seen over this past 30-40 years is western governments move further towards the richest 1% and do very little for the man on the street. Things will only begin to change once the debt fuelled house of cards comes tumbling down (and not just in America).

Derry had 12 teams in the Senior Championship, 12 in the Intermediate and 13 in Junior. I would say that's fairly balanced. The bottom teams in Intermediate championship were better than Craigbane based on last year's performances. I think you're getting in way too deep on this. Derry is still in the process of separating the leagues from the Championship so not everything is going to be perfect, but it's not too bad the way it is.

Scrappy enough game but entertaining all the same. St Eunans had plenty of chances in that second half but lacked composure at times. Errigal clinical at the end.
