if the Colts win the Superbowl, the coaches were right, if they don't they were wrong. just like if Patriots made that 4th and 2 against the Colts, Belicheck would be a gutsy genius coach.

I think you are wrong on this one Juice.  For a start you don't get second chances on a 4th a 2.  The Colts can go on and win the conference but that won't shut people up.  They can get to the Superbowl - is that enough?  They have to win the superbowl to make this call "right".  Lad thats rubbish.....

The players may have wanted to go unbeaten but I'm sure everyone of them would take a Superbowl Ring over an unbeaten streak.

i'm with thejuice here, for most of the last decade the colts have had great regular seasons and nothing to show for it, this year they had a chance at something really special and blew it. they could have gone 16-0 and not won the superbowl and it would have been a great year. now they got to win it or its just more of the same. think the coach's gambled they'd get the win anyway when they pulled the starters and also send the message that the players weren't under pressure to go perfect, when they really were. .

It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

NFC up for grabs tonight, should be a good game. Definite chance the Cowboys will steal it, with Romo playing probably the best he ever has.

Top three in that list pick themselves. Tony Gonzalez probably as well. Others are up for debate. If it hadn't been for all the injuries I'd love Charles Woodson to have been there too.

May well get Defensive MVP this year. A rare occasion when the Raiders drafted well.

Vikings look to be getting the better of the Giants. 17-0 at the moment. The Cowboys should be motivated to beat the Eagles in Jerry world to land the division title and that would give the Vikings the number 2 seed.

silly stuff from the colts

Colts pull Manning after setting meaningless marks

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 3, 2010 2:09 PM ET
The Indianapolis Colts continue to make a mockery of the final two weeks of the season.

In theory, they pulled Peyton Manning last week midway through the third quarter to keep him healthy.

Yet Sunday, they put him on the field in snowy conditions for the specific purpose of setting meaningless milestones for his teammates.

The CBS announcing crew spoke throughout the first quarter that Manning seemed likely to leave after he made sure Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark reached 100 catches.  It sounded like CBS was given a heads up from the team.

Sure enough, Wayne left the game immediately after his fifth catch gave him 100 for the year.  On the next play, the Colts faced a third-and-four with Clark being one catch short of reaching 100.

Peyton Manning tossed the ball to Clark on a play that clearly had no chance for a first down.  It lost seven yards.  And Manning and Clark didn't return to the game after that, for safety reasons that apparently didn't exist until everyone had 100 catches.

It's bad enough the Colts don't try to win the game by pulling starters.

It's a joke they still choose to pad individual stats over trying to continue a drive.

Would there possibly be something in their contracts, ie bonuses for reaching 100 catches?

Tyler Thigpen is going to be a good QB in this league, he showed glimpses for the chiefs last year.

More importantly the Ravens and Broncos play Oakland and Kansas City respectively. Not too taxing.

On a side note there's a very close championship game in progress in the Walter Payton division. Currently Crossmaglen Hitmen are leading Jack Jack City 87- 79. Crossmaglen have 4 players left playing and I have 6.

Gonna be close!

So annoyed, not only that the Eagles took a pasting, but the fact that we have to go back there only adds insult to injury!
