Charlestown 0-02 Corofin 1-03.
Corofin intercepted a quick free from John Casey. Goal was on but was blocked by McNee (not sure of the spelling - the Down native). They took the point from the follow up. Free just scored from Ciaran Comer.
Richie Haran replies with a Charlestown score.

Mayo / Minor Manager
November 24, 2009, 12:57:35 PM
There are 3 nominations in for the minor job. Tony Duffy, George Golden and Padraic Walsh.
All 3 from West Mayo as well, which makes a change in itself.

From The Mayo News:
QuoteWITH the deadline for nominations for the position of Mayo minor football manager closing last night (Monday), The Mayo News has learned that three West Mayo men are in the running for the job.
Former Mayo senior selector, George Golden, former Louisburgh manager, Padraic Walsh, and ex-Ballintubber footballer, Tony Duffy, have all confirmed that they have allowed their names to go forward for the vacant post.
George Golden, a former Kilmeena footballer who is now resident in Westport, was a selector under John Maughan with the Mayo senior football team for three seasons (2003 to 2005 inclusive).
The successful businessman was part of the backroom team for the All-Ireland Final defeat to Kerry in 2004, and also helped the Mayo U-21 team reach the All-Ireland decider that same year.
Padraic Walsh has managed Louisburgh, Westport and West Mayo during a long and distinguished career. The Allergan employee also led his company's senior football team to an All-Ireland inter-firms title.
The former Louisburgh footballer, who now lives in Kilmeena, is a former Mayo GAA Coaching Officer (a position he held for six years) and he has been the Mayo GAA Youth Officer for the last two years.
Tony Duffy is well-known for his role as joint-manager to the Ballintubber football team that captured the Mayo Intermediate championship title in 2007.
His work that season with James Horan followed on from his three year solo stint as Ballintubber manager.
Duffy works as a teacher in St Louis Community School, Kiltimagh where his coaching partnership with Maurice Sheridan has won him plenty of admirers in recent seasons.
The duo led the school's senior team to the Connacht Colleges Senior 'B' League title last season, and a Championship final appearance, while they also captured the Flanagan Cup 'B' title earlier this month.
At the time of writing (Monday evening), it was not known whether or not any other nominations had been received by the Mayo GAA Board.
The interviews to find a candidate to replace Ray Dempsey (who won two Connacht Minor championships and reached two All-Ireland Finals in three years) are expected to take place next month.

Yeah, great to make the final again!
Very good first half performance from Ballintubber, while Ballinrobe never really got going in the half. Think it was 3-03 to 0-4 at half time (not certain on that).
Ballinrobe were much better in the second half, but apart from a couple of quick points early on, they found scores very difficult to come by.
The pitch held up pretty well considering all the rain we've had (and had during the match), but on a general point it's unfair to have the U-21 championship decided this late in the year. It's almost impossible to have a top quality match in conditions at this time of year. Since these are the top teams in the county, they should at least be given a fair chance to show their abilities.

Having said that, anyone in Ballintubber will take the chance to go up against the Mitchels and put titles back-to-back  :D

Yep, the game is postponed til next Sunday in Charlestown. From the Midwest site:

Due to the adverse weather conditions the pitch at Fr. O'Hara Park, Charlestown has been deemed unplayable for the Connacht Senior Club Football Final between Corofin and Charlestown which was due to go ahead tomorrow. The final has been re-scheduled for Sunday, November 29th, at 2pm in Charlestown

Terrible scoring after 57 mins, but horrible day to be out playing in fairness.
What's the likely scenario now - presume Breaffy will be looking for a replay.

QuoteCastlebar Mitchels 1-4 Breaffy 1-2 in U-21 A championship. Don't know if it will be replayed or not. Ref blew whistle early according to radio.

Why? A timekeeping mistake, or the pitch condition deteriorated and became unplayable?

QuoteGiven the present state of the weather, I think there is a good chance that the game is going to be postponed. Anyone know anything about this; where would you go to keep in touch before setting off for the game?

Yeah, there's a fair chance it might be postponed or moved to another pitch. The U21 semi between Ballintubber and Ballinrobe fixed for Mayo Abbey has been postponed, although they're hoping they might be able to play it tomorrow.
I'd say listen in to Midwest is prob the best way to keep up to date

QuoteI wonder is he set to miss the U21 club semi against Castlebar/Knockmore ?

No he'll be leaving on Sunday, day after after the semi. According to The Mayo News, he was meant to be gone by now, but put the trial back a week so that he doesn't miss the U21 match.
You can't blame him for going over for a look. At least he's committed to playing for Mayo in 2010 at least.

Was told yesterday that Aidan O'Shea is in Australia for trials at the moment.
Anyone know if this is true? Would have expected it to be known around the county if it was the case.
It was second hand news, but the person who told the person who told me (if you follow!) would be a fairly reliable source I'd imagine.

I think it's Ballyvary Bluebombers, not Ballyheane (they wouldn't have the imagination in Ballyheane for that  :P ).

This is the video of the International Rules where the Aussies targetted McD before the throw-in. Pure thuggery but the golden mane came out of it without a bother  :D
