Quote from: Wildweasel74 on June 15, 2025, 01:00:09 PMMarty you not see the total variation on Dublin kickouts, There's alot more to kicking it long and win u own ball, and it's been biting Derry in the balls all year, from Celtic park to Ballyshannon in games. In saying that after Lynch, the current keeper probably be 5/6th of the current keepers in Derry.

What is the story with Young Scullion from screen?

Quote from: thebuzz on June 04, 2025, 11:37:14 AMWell the young has changed. I'm 63 now. But I'd still be foolish enough to be happy to go to Clones to watch a football match.

I'm 69 and unfortunately or perhaps fortunately only one of those conditions have changed.

Quote from: Champion The Wonder Horse on June 03, 2025, 08:31:18 PMI'm at a loss as to why anyone would possibly prefer Clones.
Love the relaxed party atmosphere pre-game around Clones. You don't get it anywhere else up North.

Yes, I'd be well relaxed after taking three hours to get there, being charged €10 to park in a field two miles from the ground with a fair chance of not getting out of it until the next day, paying €36 for two burgers and three chips and over-priced, flat, warm pints out of plastic glasses.

Ninety minutes to newry, park for free with 500 yards of the grounds, Friar Tucks, then decent cheap pints before the game and stay in the shamrocks club afterwards for a few pints to let the traffic die down. And still home before you'd be out of that field in Clones.

Whatever floats your boat. Maybe it was more that I was young and foolish but I have nothing but good memories of Clones.

And of the young and foolish, have both conditions changed?

Quote from: flowerpot on April 20, 2025, 02:27:21 PMIs there another team field sport where 20 percent of the team are restricted from one half of the field, asking for a friend.

Go and watch a different sport

I think I am.

Come on Armagh.
Bring Sam back.

The news comes after months of deliberations with the Louth GAA executive, games development personnel, senior football manager Ger Brennan, and other stakeholders

From the RTE article.
Is this suggesting that Devlin was engaged in negotiation for this role while preparing Derry in Championship football?

But it's really well promoted. But a very poor spectacle.

+1.
But when you have the media drooling over it morning, noon abd night....

Rugby's a good sport to watch.

Players know what the rules are and there's no grey areas.

GAA could learn a lot from rugby. Disclipline and appeals is probably the biggest area.

I watched the RWC final.
I seen more footage of the referee and replays than of actual rugby.

Quote from: PMG1 on July 15, 2024, 11:04:53 AMWould think McCole for Donegal would be in with a very good shout, not McHugh tough. Silke for Galway and Dylan McHugh gotta be certs. McCambridge for Armagh a definite. I know they weren't involved in the latter stages but Niall Morgan head and shoulders the standout for No. 1, all others have made mistakes along the way

I would agree with Morgan.
But i suspect he will be overlooked

I forced myself to watch the first half of the soccer.
If anybody complaining about the standard of GAA is a soccer supporter, their opinion is not guided by a desire for entertainment I can see.

Surely one among ye could do the job

I'm too busy.

Quote from: GTP on July 09, 2024, 07:23:43 PMI wouldn't be arguing for RG on anything other than his coaching record.  I just think the reaction to rumours and conjecture is over the top. He would be a manager of a GAA team he doesn't have to uphold public decency. In the north we have voted for parties representing paramilitaries for 50 years they did worse than domestic abuse and we keep doing it.
If he was appointed I would not like it but I support Derry not the manager or county board and would continue to do so.

Your point about voting is very true.
We have no problem voting for and supporting very ordinary characters in politics.
And it is just not here in the North. Look south east and west.
Biden or Trump, Starmer or Johnson.
By comparison Rory Gallagher might well be up for sainthood.
There are some very shady characters sitting on the Government benches in the Dáil and not just currently.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 01, 2024, 12:28:44 PMDerry are in the same position Donegal were last year, and I think they have to change the manager. Plus blood alot of new players to see if 4/5 cut the mustard. O'Rourke still the own real option, but seems reluctant, The other brings more heat than the current manager. It was still only there 1st Yr in Division 1 and they need stay there a few yrs to improve.
Maybe O'Rourke will want it now that the Glen AI has happened? I'd say everyone in Derry would take RG back in a heartbeat.

I'd say you are right.
Whatever about his personal issues he was good with Derry.
