1 in 5 not working or seeking work. Mad.
Working age. I don't see it accounting for students from ages 16 to 24 or early retirement for late 50s.

Don't know all the ins and outs of this but there is no shortage of work. While inflation is / was high it will disappear when wages catch up which they nearly have now and energy prices come down as that is exclusively the issue.
Other recessions had millions unemployed. Not the case. It's boom time for the next 5 years. Fill yer boots. Stocks, shares, investments, new ventures. Get in now.

Quote from: Eamonnca1 on March 12, 2024, 05:31:30 AMI've looked at the charts for the price of Etherium and Bitcoin and they're both the same shape. Reminds me of another chart I've been looking at lately, stock in the company I work for. The Dow and the S&P 500 are all following similar trends. Assets are on a bit of a surge, even bubbly stuff like Crypto that has no intrinsic value.

If I were youse boys I'd get out while you're ahead, or at least get all your investment back. It's not a "mistake" to cut out early if you've got your money made. If you've already got your money back then you may play away with what's still invested.

I agree. Everything rises and falls in Crypto based on Bitcoin, which as you say means it worthless. Pure bubble. Probably got a bit to go to get to the top yet, but I have started to think about taking my stake out and gambling with the profit.

Going with Tullyhill, Gaelic Warrior and then you have to see State Man and Lossiemouth as dead certs. Could be a bloodbath if them two don't come home.

Had Marine National in the 1st last year. Hoping to get off to a flyer this year.

See new teachers will start on £30,000 which is a decent starting wage coming out of college with 12 weeks paid for while sitting at home ;D

Young fella doing AS Levels at the min and he has no clue what he wants to do and he's average at everything! Could do worse than a 30 grand starter.

Can he teach though?

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

Quote from: trailer on March 11, 2024, 03:11:41 PMHuge pay offer for teachers.

The pay offer equates to a cumulative uplift of 10.4% plus £1,000 on teachers' pay scales over the three-year period of the settlement for 2021, 2022 and 2023.  In addition, the starting salary for teachers will rise to £30,000 from 1 September 2023, representing a 24.3% increase from the current starting salary for teachers in Northern Ireland and bringing the starting point equal to England.

Double it and then we will talk

Honest question.
Would you take a cut to your pension contribution if it meant more money in your hand now?

France was the most heavy favoured team to win on home Ground, then South Africa, followed by Ireland and New Zealand. The top 4 ,there was very little between them and that showed in games. Had Ireland actually been playing at home like France, then they would have been the favourites. The only people saying we were favourites is the Dublin media and people who knew f**k all about Rugby.

Ah you're fully bought in. Fair play to you.

The layout of the land is that Ireland has a unique advantage in international rugby whereby our international team absolutely trumps the needs of club rugby.

It provides us a genuine advantage in that our players our better rested and more closely coached for the international game.

But 20 odd years on we haven't come close to realising this advantage. We use it to build focused teams instead of competitive squads.

As a policy it leaves Ireland as sitting ducks. No matter how well drilled Ireland become - and by God are we well drilled - everyone knows what's coming.

And unless we find a couple of unplayable types like  O'Driscoll at once, then it counts against us.

——

On this note. Murray should have been retired from Ireland duty a decade ago.

By accident or design - and honestly I still don't know which - the predominant feature of his game has been shite box kicking. Nobody else does this at this level. Because it's shite, pointless rugby, unless it comes as a surprise.

Don't think this is true at all. Before the professional era Ireland were behind both Scotland and Wales in terms of success. We were miles behind England. Now at club level and international level we are blitzing all 3 of those sides. The idea that we are sacrificing club rugby to boost the national team is simply not supported by the facts.

This is true at professional club level where they have 4 teams.
The Amateur game is dead.
It's not dead but the supporter base isn't there to get it off life support. I go to City of Armagh home matches when I can and their AIL 1A matches are "relatively" well supported, but even that's in the hundreds (official capacity is 1000).

Used to go with my Dad and watch Dungannon years ago. Would have been a few thousand at them games. Now you'd be lucky to get 150.

Antrim Hurling is a joke as well ffs. When Antrim hurling is comparable to Tyrone football and the work that is put in is in any way similar you might have room to make a snide remark. If I was from Antrim I'd be pissed. What an embarrassment.

Brutal from Antrim. What a let down the county board has been to GAA in the county. With the size of the population it is a outright disgrace that the CB would put such a team out. They must be doing zero work at club and schools underage level. I don't blame the players at all, in fact to pull on the jersey and go out and represent their county they are a credit to themselves.
Having McEntee and others up managing the senior team while ignoring underage is f**king pointless. The CB and Northern Switchgear would be better off taking £100k out on to the Falls road and setting it on fire. If I was an Antrim man I'd be calling for heads.

Utterly pathetic.

Conor Murray kicked the ball away. Why? O'Mahoney lost his discipline and took a cheap yellow. Crowley isn't a great kicker.  Two huge moments that cost Ireland. Interesting to see how it's reported in the Munster v Leinster media.
