Kerry have not beaten Dublin in championship since 2009, Dublin have won the last three championship encounters, 2 finals and 1 semi. Kerry the media darlings and former aristocrats will be chomping at the bit for this one. Dublin don't look at the races, Kerry could nip this one.

All the momentum with Donegal, a lot tougher games than the Dubs have had. It will be close and maybe Donegal will shade it.

GAA Discussion / GAA census
July 21, 2016, 04:18:36 PM
Just wondering if there was ever a properly conducted GAA census ever done and if so is it possible to extract the information.

For example:

  • Age/sex/nationality etc.
    Playing age groups
    Players who play both codes
    Players who play one.
Players who stopped play after minor
    Players who retried 25-30/31-35 Etc.
    Club membership paid amount?
    Personal equipment amount?
    Travel time for training/matches etc.
What other sport do you play.

You know, a lot lot more questions to ask.

Would it be an impossible task?

I know there are stats on paid membership per club juvenile and senior or registered members of that club etc.

The GAA are using figures from the last census to target growth areas on the East coast, I wonder if we could do so much more.

Tipp fans fighting Galway fans on the Hill and in Quinn's after, it was violent enough, In particular in Quinns.

Can you behave yourselves please when you come to the capital. It is not the end of the disco in Nenagh or Galway city.

This is also not soccer.

Perhaps its a good idea to ban the sale of alcohol when some sets of fans come to Dublin.

I have seen this from Tipp fans a few times before, one match in particular when a fan was getting sick on the Hill and 3 fans thrown out for throwing digs on the Hill, alcohol influenced, the same match , final v KK a few years ago.

Since 2011 Donegal have been a top 5 team, winning one All Ireland and getting to two finals and winning 3 Ulster titles also in that period and one would say they are not finished yet with some fantastic players and good structures in place and some of the best fans around.

However, the money and professionalism in which some people would say is driving the game to a new era and what Donegal are doing is against the GAA ethos.

They have players quitting their jobs to become full time professional athletes, numerous training camps at home and abroad funded by millionaire sugar daddies in Britain and the U.S, I believe they are one again this weekend, helicopters to training and matches, the use of a professional soccer teams facilities and medical care.

Are Donegal similar to Chelsea when Abramovich came in, can any other team compete with that level of funding and professionalism except for maybe Dublin, but you would see Dublin players flying around the place in private helicopters never mind the rest of the teams, in particular Ulster teams.

Time for a level playing field, any thoughts?
