If I have a pic on my hard dirve, how can I use that as an avatar, the profile section allows for a URL to b e entered so i tried just putting the file path in this field ? Any ideas?
It'd be the same as adding a photo from your hard-drive. Go to http://www.imageshack.us and upload the picture from your hard drive - it will give you a URL - use the URL beside "Show image to friends".
Paste that URL into the field for the avatar.

tried using that image shack and nothing is uploading. could some images be copyright?

1- how do i get a pic beside my name
2-is it the same process to get a picture where your posting
When you registered:
Go to profile
on the left hand side under Modify Profile click on Forum profile information.
Go to i have my own pic and delete anythinh in it
copy and paste the profile of the picture you want, it has to be web based, say you want the one i have copy and paste this into have my own pic http://bestanimations.com/Cartoons/Simpsons/Bart/Bart-02-june.gif
go to the bottom of the page and click on Change profile
and Bobs your uncle
