1 year or 4 does it matter ? If he is a success he will get longer, if not he will be let go anyway.  I think he is a smart guy, Kearns is from our club is a equally a smart cookie who knows the ins and outs of Laois Club Football.  Don't know piles about Delaney but by the looks of it these guys will be a success and we will have them for the long haul.

It is imperative the county board backs them with serious money to get the right people in the back room.

Congrats to Camross. They beat Rathdowney Errill, B/K and C/B in the same year and ground it out today. Were out of the game for long periods and very wasteful but overall were the best team in 2017. 4 champions in as many years. Can't be bad for Laois hurling especially given that Abbeyleix and Castletown are improving. Standard was pretty poor today and both teams played much more poorly than they are capable of. Exciting finish though. Zane stood up in the end when it mattered after a poor game by his standards.

I would think quite the opposite that 4 champions in as many years, implies that there is no outstanding team.

Ridiculous suggestion. Having 4+ teams capable of winning drives the standard up. You mean it would be better if it was like the football championship?

My own opinion is quite the opposite I believe  in the vast majority of cases the more competitive the championship, the more likely it's weak.  That's not to say, the Hurling is more interesting and better entertainment as the crowd yesterday definitely attained to.   The football of course is not as watchable and is more predictable but competitive does not mean higher standards.

Yesterday's Crowd was huge so people enjoy it

I get that Saint, no argument with what's happened.  Just presume if Kelly and Garvan were going to be available at the start of the year ordinarily Josephs would have regarded and no need to go to Croke Park.  Nice to see Tom Kelly playing again.

I am glad this objection did not go anywhere,  but it's very much a loophole in the rulebook.  Surprised Josephs had not re graded already, Garvan & Kelly must have only become available late on in the year and someone investigated and found a loophole(where there is a will there is away).

You may want to come down from that cross "Monument",  the Daly thing is going to annoy a lot of people even if Josephs got the verdict.

Seems Josephs know the rules, any issues from here on in that's where we should all head.

There is a misconception out there that if a player misses a year, he is automatically available to play at the lower grade which is not the case. Surprised St Josephs got caught out as they usually are on the ball.

Find it hard to imagine they are with a high profile player like Garvan or Kelly

The problem lies in the whole volunteer segment of the GAA,  the rule is you must regrade downwards one level of your club teams at a time(must be submitted to county board in Feb/March), so say Rodgers in Portlaoise has to go down from Senior to Intermediate that's 2017 to go to Intermediate to Junior A is 2018 and so on with B & C.  Many  Clubs, Managers & Players are not fully versed in this.  You can start on about they should be but at the end of the day Club Secretary is a volunteer role with a lot of movement within positions over the  years and experience may not always be possible.  The County Board should allow automatic regrades if you have not played for a certain period of time without having to formalise it.  This is where the problem lies, Player does not play for a couple of years and everyone thinks he is now eligible for lower grades because of this simply not true.

Just asking Don?  We are going to have to unearth new players the old boys  can't play forever.

Don't think the referee impacted that much,  two teams not much between them but Dubin have the confidence of perennial winners while Mayo have the opposite.  That is huge issue to overcome

I suppose the interesting thing I see is how many clubs in the semi-finals with so little county players.  For those that say we lack talent maybe we are looking in the wrong places or not motivating the right men.

Am I right in saying 1 starter from
Ballylinan
Graigue
Port

that's with Gary not being definite and Timmons being out all year.

Graiguecullen had 3 players on the county panel this year. The 3 of them played against Wicklow in the qualifiers. Trevor Collins, Mark Timmons and Ambrose Doran.

Oh right and against Clare ?
