Ratoath won their first Meath SFC. Beat Summerhill 3-15 to 2-13. They have Bryan McMahon and the two Wallace's so they might prove a handful for Leinster opposition.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

If I'm not mistaken Ratoath play the winners of Garrycastle and St Patrick's.

Cheers, the Leinster website wasn't clear.

Ratoath have Conor McGill as well so there's a good amount of county experience in there as well as a few U-20 county lads. But I'm still doubtful if Meath's dismal record in club football improve.

Ferbane beaten by 2 points.
It'll stand to them, no doubt. Wasn't at it, but was sporadically listening on the wireless. Pats just seemed to have a surge. Senior in Offaly should be very interesting next year. Ferbane, Rhode, Tullamore, Edenderry and Clara all can probably win it on their day. Then there's Shamrocks who are probably the best equipped of the bottom 3, and were only narrowly pipped by Ferbane in the QF. Bracknagh will hope for survival in their first year up. If that wish were to come through, it'd likely be at Cappincur's expense. Then there's the groups and how they'll be split.
So Ferbane and Rhode will be in different groups, as will Clara and Edenderry, Bracknagh and Tullamore, and Cappincur and Shamrocks.

It's a pity that Ferbane lost out. Bracknagh too, although I thought that they were heavy enough favourites for their game. Peter Cunningham is going on tour with the army, so he might miss the start of the league, as well as a fair chunk of the training. Hopefully Shannonbridge can go far. We'd 2 teams in Leinster finals last year, now we've only one remaining.

Did you hear if many more Ferbane lads were called in to the OY panel, AZ? Apart from the obvious ones of Maher and Johnson. Leon Fox and Stephen Wren perhaps?

It's looking like the county panel will be in a better place come next year anyway. Hopefully we can get some of last years u20s in, because they were highly rated. Even some of this year's, which are Johnson and Farrell pretty much. Not sure if Nathan Poland of Pullough would be at their level yet, I think he was on and off the u20s team a bit last year. One advantage, for want of a better phrase is that two of our 3 representatives in Leinster are out early, unlike last year, where Shamrocks and Brigid's were in it until December, Brigid's provided 2 players in Cian Donohue and Dan Molloy, while Shamrocks provided Patrick Dunican and Nigel Dunne, until he walked. Shannonbridge have only one panelist from last year (Barry Rohan), although there could be more yet, the likes of Darragh Corbett or Ronan McEvoy spring to mind.
Looking forward to the O'Byrne cup already.

Good thing I didn't put my money where my mouth is.  :-X

Dunlavin were impressive against Caulry, although it's hard to judge how far they'll go as Caulry were very poor on the day, definitely didn't play as well as they can. Similarly for Garrycastle against Killoe, the castle looked impressive albeit against poor opposition. I think Killoe only managed 2 or 3 points from play.
It'll definitely be another step up for Garrycastle against Ratoath the next day out, by all accounts it sounded like they were well on top against Summerhill. I saw them playing against Athlone in the Intermediate a few years ago and they were very good then too. The Wallaces and McMahon are difficult to stop when they get going.

Some interesting fixtures there. I imagine Portlaoise will be too strong for St Patricks.
Eire Og and Sarsfields could be a tight one, I'll go for a draw in this one.
Garrycastle and Ratoath is another tight one, Garrycastle have some experience, but Ratoath have some nice players too. I'll go for a narrow win for the Westmeath men.
Finally, I'd imagine Ballyboden should ease past Newtown Blues.

Sarsfields have lost two of their best players since the county final. Portlaoise really should be coming through that side of the draw. Although I'm not sure they are a strong as they've been in the past.
It's been a long time since the Meath champions have done anything in Leinster. Ratoath do look good on paper. Garrycastle will win marginally I think.

Kilkenny senior football champions Mullinavat beat Dublin intermediate champions Ballyboughal 3-11 to 2-11 in the Leinster championship. What odds would you have got on that shock win?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

I'd say the same odds it was for the Carlow champions beating Cuala last week! Hefty
