I see the Townies beat the Reich yesterday - heard it was poor fare.  Any (non-O'Reilly dynasty) reports?

Poor fare accurately describes it. The Reich could have won it had they taken their scores and had they not been given to foothering and fumbling with the ball in midfield. Brady and Sheridan were impressive for Slashers. Young Burke was the best of the Clonguishes.

Crowd was fairly small, I thought.

(Same as in the Indo; at least it's not in Crayonese, I suppose.)

I also expect the whining about Northern Gaels to begin soon.

Why do you expect whining - they won easily, no?

Ah, but how is it fair to expect any single parish to be able to compete against a combination of two parishes (especially when one of those parishes has as big a population as Mullinalaghta has)?

Maybe the solution is for ye to cast off the Scabbies and merge with Ballymore.  :P

Ballymore are already in with their fellow-parishioners. (And I originally misread that as "Scrabbies".)

Elsewhere, the Layder Cup is moving into its final stages. Abbeylara and Slashers look likely to win their respective groups and head straight into the semi-finals. The quarter-finalists look likely to be Dromard and either Mullinalaghta or Killoe from section A and Clonguish and either Mostrim or Colmcille from Section B, so there may be local interest yet.

Killashee beat Ballymore 1-9 to 0-11 to ensure that there will be a second South Longford team in next year's Senior Championship.

Shamrock Shore

Ere a sign of the hurling county final.

I believe the inter-galatic council of arbitration, one step short of the Supreme Inter Galactic Council of Arbitration (clever use of caps to denote importance) have adjourned Clonguish's objection to 15 Wolfe Tone humans v 15 Clonguish humans with hurls until Stardate 5683.33

As for the game v Dromard. We shuda won it 6 times. I believe. I wasn't there. But by all accounts etc.

North Longford

Is it my imagination or is the setup for next years championship a bit of a joke! A 12 team league in which you play 4 of the other teams only which are picked randomly. So you could play the best 4 or the worst 4! An I missing something?

Billys Boots

Sounds a bit bizarre - the legal eagles in the Reich will have a field-day.  Maybe they're not busy enough at present and that's why it's happening!

Auld Shore confirms it's true. Similar systems in place in Wikla and Kildare.

Hope the High Court has plently of slots for the Clonguishes

The Insider

New championship should add some life as every game will mean something. The top 8 sides after the 4 rounds are played will advance to the q/finals. The draw being 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3v 6 and 4 v 5. The bottom 4 will go into the relegation semi finals with team 9 v 12 and 10 v 11. Every team gets a minimum of 5 championship game . Other systems looked at was 2 groups of 6 with the top team in each group going into semi final 2nd and 3rd place teams playing q/finals  . 3 groups of 4 where the top 3 went into semi final and 2nd placed teams playing off for the final semi final spot , and finally the 4 groups of 3 which never got a hearing as there would have been the least amount of games and would of had a huge impact on revenue for the County Board.
