Everybody on County board should get a copy of Saturday's Irish Independent and read the interview with Michael Duignan the just might learn something

Reply to Hurling 123. Because the people at the top of Gaa in Laois are absolutely useless and all they care about is their own clubs and they have as much vision as a dead goldfish

Tradition my Ar** Im my lifetime I have seen Offaly winning their first football in 1971 and first hurling in 1981 Clare winning in 1998 their second one first one in 1914 they had no tradition behind them but that didn't stop them it's no coincidence that Offaly have won a football under 20 and appeared in a minor and under 20 twice since Duignan became chairman. If the right people are at the top anything is possible but with clowns in charge all your have is a circus

We had no tradition in minor football in the ninenties but we still were able to win 2 and play in a third final with no clatter of all ireland winners involved at any level it can be done but if it's not led properly from the top like any business it cannot suceed

After watching Offaly un20 on TnaG last night with their Passion and brilliant workrate and no little skill and the thousands of their followers completely enthralled we Laois can only wish that a man of the calibre of Michael Duignan can emerge from the county and replicate what he has done ,I know he is not totally responsible for it all but he put the framework and personnel in place to let nights like last night attainable.  We can only dream

Young team my foot we were playing Carlow for Christsake  this team managed to get hammered by Offaly who were in turned hammered by both Dublin and London of all teams until people wake up and see we have a major problem we will never solve it as regards losing to Carlow in 1988 there were some tremendous footballers on that team like Tommy Dwyer Johnny Nevin and the likes who would have got ther place on any team in Ireland

Another embarrassing result in Portlaoise today we have almost reached the bottom after140 years of playing football in the county after  producing some of the greatest players I have seen in the country John Conway,Bobby Miller, Atch Whelan ,Curly Prendergast the Browne's the Dempsey's the Turleys Joe Higgins Beano and too many more to mention. The first game I attended was in 1968 v Lomgford and after watching the footballers the last few years I despair

If we needed to know the state of football and hurling underage in the country we got our answer tonight and last Saturday in Hawkfield. The scandal ofthe lack of promotion Gaelic games in Portlaoise and Mountmellick is disgraceful.if neither clubs is unable or unwilling to improve there lot the country board has a duty to intervene as it's their brief to promote Gaelic games in the country imagine the big schools in both towns playing in B and C competition and unless something is done Country footballers will be vying with Waterford and London to see who can reach Division 3 and our hurlers will be competing with the likes of meath and Kerry for many years to come

Footballers yesterday very poor centre of defence wide opened midfield non existent Murphy and Dempsey must be brutal if Lillis is first option off bench  could be a very short summer
Pitch in terrible state could no one tells Leitrim to warm up on terrace side as stand side was badly cut up only positive we are almost assured promotion don't think Offaly be shaking in there boots looking at that yesterday

Just back from Thurles very poor performance from Laois against extremely limited opponents the amount of times posession coughed up was alarming at times under very little pressure ref was hard on us only positive was the result

Dreadful performance last night only one tactic balloon the ball down on top of a 18 year old who was marked by 2 and sometimes 3 defenders another 18 year old who was best club  defender all last year playing midfield and best club forward by a mile last year sitting in the subs Willie Maher has not a clue

Those involved last year in the Portlaoise debacle should hang their heads in shame, them Clowns don't care about Ladies football in Laois they are just on a power trip we have 2 Kildare men over the Senior Ladies team at a cost, they have lost all their matches so far all the progress that has been made over the last few years is now gone .
