More to the point what's O'Kane sprouting this all in the papers and not let it be dealt internally between the County board and the clubs at the meeting. Good to know the pound signs for the paper come before been a Derry Supporter.
+ 10. Think his latest contribution will not even sit well with more mature journalists or with Irish News. Trying too hard. Getting too personal.

That's balls on both of your points. He is simply doing his job.

I'd agree with the 2 men above. You're talking about volunteers at the end of the day who give up their time for the county. To have inaccuracies about them and their procedures splashed all over the back pages of the IN doesn't sit well with me. It's tabloidesque, gossipy gutter press stuff.  This mornings article had a glaring untruth in it (if you're to take the CB at their word last night).

Call out the inaccuracies then.

RG wouldn't have been my choice but he's there now and to be honest I think he's a pretty good manager. As long as we don't play the absolute dirge he had Fermanagh playing at times we might do ok.

He should at least shore up the defence. I'd be happy enough to play a wee bit more defensively if it means that bang-average forwards no longer have a direct route to our goal whenever they feel like it.

+1!!!

Don't know much about Gallagher but willing to give him a chance. Meenagh is brilliant and Muldoon is one of our best ever forwards so I'm sure he has plenty to offer. We need another promotion this year as a minimum so let's hope we can do it.

Genuine question, whats that based on? His coaching in St Colms?

I've seen him first hand how good a trainer he is and the respect he commands from players. He has a wealth of knowledge about the game very organised and knows Derry football very well. Speak to anyone who's worked with him and they'll tell you the same.

Players always seem to like him alright but not much success on the C.V.

Did anyone else notice Jason Sherlock running onto the pitch for practically every Kerry kickout in the first half? He seemed to make a bee line for anywhere within the Kerry half where there was space and sometimes seemed to just run in a loop around it. The pessimist in me thought it looked like Dublin were getting another body on the pitch to make it seem more crowded for the Kerry kickouts. I know nothing illegal about what he was doing, but it did seem un-sporting to me.
Only an opinion from a neutral and wonder did anyone notice this or was it just me making something out of nothing.

One think I would criticise Gough about, there were a few times in the latter stages of the game when players went down injured and he made keepers take a kickout and on one occasion he waved off the medical staff off the pitch. Dangerous craic that, might have been gamesmanship but could have been serious injuries too.

He does it almost every game and if its not him its the medical personnel. Just on your second point, I'm open to correction on this, the play is only supposed to be stopped for a head injury. It should have been stopped in the build up to the Kerry goal. An accidental collision between the Kerry goalkeeper coming out with a high ball and an oncoming Dublin player. I think it was his elbow clipped him on the way out and it was obvious he was hurt by it.

Gough was excellent.

Dublin didn't quite get going today as a) they were rightly pulled up for fouling and b) Fenton (must have been injured) was a passenger. Gavin had an unusually poor game too.

He wasn't at all. Kerry should have finished with 14 players.

Maybe. Cooper got a warning, then a yellow then a red. O'Sullivan got his warning after the yellow. No matter what Gough did there someone would have called him inconsistent.

We'd a great game of football, and the refereeing played a major part in that. Men could hit each other and tackle each other, but dragging and pulling was a no-no.

Maybe referees should start punishing the better teams more so we get competitive matches.

So you don't / can't / won't accept that Cooper was sent off for a third offence ?

O'Sullivan had also given away earlier frees in the game though

Yes but he clearly spoke to Cooper about deliberate fouling.

There are certain fouls/actions that are a yellow no matter what has went before. The tackle with the close fist into the ribs in the first half for example that he issued a noting for. The Crowley tackle with the foot that he did give a yellow for and the last foul by Sullivan that he didn't. It's the inconsistency that is frustrating.

But all you ask for is consistency. The second foul from Sullivan is a yellow by the standards of what he was issuing them for.

Yeah I thought consistent too. Cooper always on the edge. Small usually more of a walking red card.

Not sure why gavin didn't take him off.

Three different Kerry players have fouled twice.

Completly inconsistent with his cards though

So it seems Kerry didn't win the game just a case if the Ref beating Tyrone  ::)

They made some good changes at half time but I can't see how a neutral observer wouldn't notice the influence of the referee.

Proverbial game of two halves. Couldn't believe the decision to take Niall Sludden off. He was motoring well. All you ask of a referee is that he doesn't unduly influence the result, unfortunately that wasn't the case today. It seems to be acceptable to mark Peter Harte by bear hugging him for 70 minutes. Kerry subs made a world of difference.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone County Football and Hurling
June 24, 2019, 11:32:35 PM
Few random points from Saturday's game.

Pearse Park is a great wee stadium.
McCurry proved again that he isn't the answer. Better option off the bench.
Was very surprised McGeary was allowed to finish the first half.
Cathal McShane has developed into as good a full forward as what's about at the minute.
Colm Cavanagh played as a pretty much full time sweeper. Maybe he needed the game but looked sluggish.
Tyrone are still stuck for a top class corner back and corner forward.
Peter Harte is an exceptional footballer. The criticism he receives is ridiculous.
Unless they improve dramatically as a team there won't be any super 8's this year

donegal full-backs McGee and mcmenamin both yellow carded for sledgeing/goading.

mcmenamin (the boy who tiernan McCann lost the head with) also got a box for his mouthing.

? is this the first time a ref has booked 2 players from the same team for  it .

McMenamin got booked for holding off the ball. Not sure what McGee got booked for.

Very deflating situation for Armagh, especially as underdogs. :-\

They should still be thanking their lucky stars after the farce on Saturday.

What went on?

Best just to say that the ref didn't have a good outing and leave it at that.
