Well whats the opinions on the new Logo for the Refs lads?
It looks like an overhead shot after a bad driver went bananas in a snowy car park while trying to maouevre the vehicle into a spot. But 'tis lovely otherwise.
b-rutal
Why do the referees need a new logo???
Colours are brutal but the design itself manages to incorporate part of the GAAs logo as well as a Celtic cross (or am I looking for shit that's not there???).
It looks like the mark of some sinister Society I'm thinking.
The KKK, the freemasons, the Nationalist Socialists etc. Along those lines. Sort of appropriate really, vow of silence and all.
Surely it should be.

Did someone get one of those drawing things that used various patterns of circles that were popular in the 80's, or was the designer a work experience kid?
Sporigraph or something like that.
I think its like a Celtic design based on a knot, overall not bad

Tracked it down, its Spirograph.
Fionntamhnach
beat you to it, pity i couldnt spell it ;D
what was wrong with the old one?
looks good!Am i alone on this one?!!
Why do they even need one?
Looks like I'm not the only one who didn't know the referees had a separate badge. Assumed they used the same GAA crest as the players. What's the point of it? It's hardly as if there's a roaring trade in Replica Referees jersies is there?
I can't say I've noticed a bunch of young lads running round their gardens pretending to be Dickie Murphy et al.
The Reiteoir emblem shown represents all the officials who preside over our National Games.
Rather than call our officials 'Match Officials' giving the impression of single matches, it was decided to call them 'Games Officials', thus incorporating our national games of both Gaelic Football & Hurling.
Whether the respective official(s) are officiating at an Under 8's Football game in Tralee or at an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final in Croke Park, there is a common theme to each game and that is that these games require games official(s) on the day. The above logo depicts this uniformity regardless of location, competition etc.
Reiteoir is the umbrella under which Referee, Standby Referee, Linesmen, Sideline Official, Umpires and Assessors all come.
The logo itself has incorporated:
The 32 counties of Ireland
4 provinces and their respective championships
The inclusion of New York & London (competing in respective provinces during the Championship)
The All Ireland series
A Football (to represent Gaelic Football)
A Sliotar (to represent Hurling)
The name Reiteoir to incorporate all Games Officials
Finally a Celtic theme (both colour and design) to highlight the way in which our National Games are unique and originated in Ireland.
CAN any one see any of the above in the logo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What worries me about this is that some designer freak received thousands to come up with this childs squiggle. Another freak will now be given thousands more to explain its meaning to us.
The end result
Most of the w*****s who wear it every sunday will be power drunk Hitlers who are rubbish at what they do
Why not spend the monay on attempting to improve tha standrad of refereeing
Be a better idea to try to improve playing standards & improve behaviour on the field before you even attempt to take a pot at referees
Quote4 provinces and their respective championships
Probably the four black triangles
QuoteA Football (to represent Gaelic Football)
The outside circle
QuoteA Sliotar (to represent Hurling)
The outside circle and the two grey lines (presuming they lie under the black triangles).
QuoteFinally a Celtic theme (both colour and design) to highlight the way in which our National Games are unique and originated in Ireland.
The Celtic Cross.
As for the rest of it, ???. I presume Reiteoir is to be written underneath the logo, else if it's supposed to be within the logo (http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif)
The logo is alright, although if it is supposed to mean all those things it's a joke. Less is more.
spirograph!!
Mr Magee or should i say Duperdee, we left all that behind us on the old site, i have meet many a good man on my playing experiences at Uni and County! No need for it.
Good try Bottle of Stout but the Cavan Maniac's obviously got greater and more accurate vision than you - he's hot the nail on the head - or was it something designed by a dog pissing in snow?
Based on the Toyota hubcap?

To me it looks like a bit of an optical illusion I'm still waiting to see an image appear from the middle ::)
