That's a brutal bit of fixture makin... Not alone the fact that it's ST PATRICKS day but also the fact that St Macartans are in the MacRory final on St Patricks day... I'd say there'd be a right few heads plannin on makin the short journey to that one given the significance. Are the County Board trying to decimate the potential support in purpose??

It show complete lack of respect for the Sem's fantastic achievements this year, and one would expect a big crowd from north Monaghan to head to that game.
There'll be a few from my own neck of the woods who'll be following the mighty Rangers on Paddy's Day as well.

This is the sort of thing that is hardly likely to help attract a young fella with other options to choose our game.

#48
Liam McVicker. one of the better players last year has been dropped!!!! poor atitude the main problem i'd imagine

thebandit

That surprised me as well... We played them last year in Bs and he was MOTM by a mile.

Is he Paddy's gason?

Mid Mon

paddy's gason all right. they played a game in 05 with paddy at full forward and liam in the corner. They scored 1-14 between them

Mid Mon

Think he still involved with training, even though he not included on panel

GrandMasterFlash

I see on the Hogan Stand that the MacRory final is on 19th Mar, which is the BH Monday... I thought it was on St Patricks day, i.e the Sat? Damn Damn, do you think they might change it for me??

Main Street

Thanks for the info so far on Monaghan's trailblazing.
What's the reward for finishing first or second in the division?
Is there yet another new format to the league next year?

Mid Mon

Next years league format returns to 4 divisions, each of the new divisions is determined from the results of this years leagues.

          Division 1A     Division 1B       Division 2A      Division 2B
1st          Div 1            Div1                Div 2             Div2
2nd         Div 1            Div1                Div 2             Div2
3rd          Div 1            Div1                Div 3             Div3
4th          Div 1            Div1                Div 3             Div3
5th          Div 2            Div2                Div 4             Div4
6th          Div 2            Div2                Div 4             Div4
7th          Div 3            Div3                Div 4             Div4
8th          Div 3            Div3                Div 4             Div4

thebandit

Its not inconceivable (or entirely palatabe to me!) that Monaghan could be in Division 2 and Armagh could be in Division 3 next year!

Think he still involved with training, even though he not included on panel

The panel wa named as 24 but 26 lads are still involved. The two not named are Liam McVicar and Chris Callan from Blayney. Both were on last years panel.

Mid Mon

For the past few years the bottom 2 teams in 1A and 1B have been relagated, resulting in 16 teams in a division above them, and the top 2 teams in 2A and 2B have been promoted resulting in 16 teams in a division below them. So noting has changed

GrandMasterFlash

Good point MidMon, never thought of it like that.. Looks like Longford are gonna get the two points from Offaly game due to playing a player who was suspended which puts them back in our faces, again! Jaysus....  Anyways, Clare's the next big scalp so if we can pull that one off we'll be doin well..
