Former Tyrone Coach Peter Donnelly and Darren Burgess Head of High Performance Port Adelaide AFL Club in 2015.

Looks to have been a great course, smart move by Donnelly, surely of some benefit to Tyrone GAA in the
following years and he is no doubt a great coach.

Could some sort engagement with the AFL clubs be a beneficial strategy to get an edge?

"They will live and breathe in-season training with the full team and their inner sanctum, which is a stand out and unique opportunity made possible by this partnership." - Uni SA & PAFC

"The course will also cover injury surveillance, rehabilitation and monitoring workloads; as well as interstate pre-game preparation of medical, nutrition, sleep and physical elements.

"Attendees will get unprecedented access to the sports science, coaching, and player development of an elite, successful sporting club."

There is a short interview clip of Peter Donnelly in the video link @ 3.31

Can see both sides on this. Can go two ways sometimes I guess.

Surely Tyrone benefited in some tiny way from the AFL namely McShanes Crows city rivals - Port Adelaide and their
high performance management department in 2015. A very highly rated and smart young coach imo.
Interesting video, see 3.31

very interesting. Maybe Mickey didn't know he was in Australia. Monaghan have him now anyway.

Maybe! Yep and Ulster Rugby now too!

However it would have probably been quite a useful trip for Tyrone coaches to learn how they do things at Port Adelaide.

Big Screen(s) and Hawkeye still required. Wonder what the final cost would be?! Phase 2 perhaps.

Bit of a sidenote but they GPA and others should look towards what happened Cricket and Kerry Packer in the 1970's, they need a rich patron to sign up amateurs.
Of course this might never happen to the GAA.

How did he sign so many players?
At the time cricketers were appallingly paid - the Australians were in effect amateurs - and so, in Packer's own words, it was "the easiest sport in the world to take over ... nobody bothered to pay the players what they were worth".

Philly McMahon believes inter-county players should receive financial backing as the demands on their time continues to soar.

Martin Breheny : Its time to use two referees

Interesting point made by Paul Earley on the quick kickout potential leading to more fouling and the increased speed of game nowadays. Never been a harder time to be a referee?!

Could you say that Tipperary were two separate counties playing as one pre 2014?  ???

I remember watching this game years ago, had to look into the game in question 2003 Leinster semi Dublin vs Laois

If i recall correctly the half time commentators dismissed what Colm said.

That sideline interview really stood out in my memory from the usual, I thought to myself this was different!

Laois went on to win the game!
