The last round of group games take place this week in the Champions League and as things stand its quite possible that the 5 Premier League teams will qualify for the last sixteen as group winners. That's no mean feat, its been fashionable to knock it in recent years but Premier League is definitely on the rise again.

Winning the group could be a poison chalice for some though with Real, Bayern, Roma and Juve likely to finish 2nd in their groups

Yeah, due to the hype generated by the Premier League some people look for every chance to bash it.

The league's clubs have undoubtedly unperformed in recent years when you consider the amount of money being spent but they're now very much up there challenging with the big two in Spain and PSG who are also emerging.

To be honest with the amount of dosh in the EPL and the decline of smaller leagues getting all clubs in last 16 should really be a minimum expectation .   Granted 5 teams is a anomoly .  Man U were in a shit group ,  Real Madrid were poor ,  Liverpool's group average ,  Chelsea in an average group .

The group stages is a lot of shadow boxing. Challenging the best in this competition will be seen for sure in the knock out stages. Manchester City look the best bet to go the furthest.

United are more suited to grinding out results. City can go tits up at any moment in a knockout competition with the way Pep has them set up and it'll be fatal. Liverpool on steroids.

What a goal from Defoe!!  Marco Van Basten euro 88 sprints to mind!

Man City should manchester derby 3/4 nil.utd are average team

All of the possession for Man City but i don't see where they should be 3 or 4-0 ahead? The Sane chance before the goal was Man Citys only decent goal scoring opportunity and the goal was error in defence.

Man City error in defence allows United to level it up at half time.

City have all the possession as you'd expect.. they've a great system and Utd have dug in and managed a lucky ish goal to level!

I'd be happy for a draw considering the way City have played but did back Utd at 3/1
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Maybe if United players showed the same level of fight on the pitch they wouldn't have lost  ;D
