Harte would be a lot more relaxed about players taking a few drinks than most managers. Dont think there is a drink ban in place for most of the championshop.

Which is fair enough, but when the players abuse common sense, then you have to make a stand.
Drinking before a big match is not on!

Not saying that is what happened Gallagher and Bonner btw.

Agree totally. The Tyrone players would know the boundaries. Players seem to take it to far in Donegal and the management therefore have to step in.

How many times is that now that Bonner has left or been kicked off the panel? Very talented player, but he should get a grip of himself.

Gallagher wouldn't be considered a big loss in most counties, but it shows how lacking we are in midfielders. He's a good fielder, but limited overall at the top level.

Does anyone know if this shit is actually more common amongst the Donegal squad, or are the powers-that-be in other counties just a lot more discrete?

Will be home for this game (first match I'll be at since that awful capitulation in Omagh against Monaghan). Hopefully the new line-up will show a bit of passion.

Think it is a Northwest thing..... derry and Donegal! They have that many petty rivalriies, they love shafting eachother. Other counties have their problems but can keep them indoors, they have loyalty to eachother. That is why we win nothing!

Canavan in support of the GPA has been rattling on about 10 of Donegal squad have no jobs... too much time on their hands it seems  :o

BTW, it is only a game of football. No big problem about a few lads enjoying themselves if they want to. Sure look at the soccer players in England, earning big money and they go out and drink and it doesn'tv seem to do them any harm. These boys are being paid to entertain us so loosen up people and give them a break.

I beleive  that thare have many instances where some of the Tyrone players have strayed well beyond the boundaries!

It's not us that make the rules. It's the panel and the management team themselves that agree on the level of commitment required and the rules that they are going to adhere to. If a player don't want to sign up to them then that's fine.

Four times at this stage by my count [someone had a good username on an other forum ... Ciaran Gonner!].
Being an IC player requires a range of abilities, some of which are dedication and commitment. Bonner has consistentlly demonstrated that he doesn't have these.

In saying that however the full story about these suspensions has yet to come out. It's a club led thing from what I hear and it's more than just the 2 boys involved from their club.

So the stereotype is reinforced ... the farce continues ... and Donegal's inevitable whimpering exit from the Championship draws a little closer. It's dark times to be a Donegal supporter. I'll follow the team through thick and thin but it's difficult when few of the players seem to demonstrate the pride and passion and commitment that should be a given.

Well 205 euro a week in dole to start.  ;)

At some stage we have to start looking at the County Board to shoulder some of the responcibility.
J70 welcome home, maybe your the man to turn the fortunes of the team.  ;)
