It's just simply not downloading quick enough.  Are you watching it at the lowest quality.
Is your broadband connection slow?
I too think that this could well be the problem. To see if it is, Sandy might try playing a video from another site to see if the problem persists. It definitely sound like a buffering problem, doesn't it?
It's nothing to do with his connection if he installed the software I linked to.
Yep that will download the actual video file to his computer to play in a player and that will work fine. Although a pain in the ass if just watching alot of youtube videos at random and you had to download each.
I think he want's youtube to work the way it is supposed to work but his broadband speed may be preventing this.

Thanks for your help fellas but I feel I'm out of my "computer" depth! I think I'll have to hitch up with some local techie to solve the problem.

If using IE there is something built in.
Go to tools - Ineternet options, then the content tab and enable the content advisor.
This will only work on the IE Browser.

Young fella came back from his friends house yesterday to say ur man had been showing him "sex" websites on the house pc. After a bit of an interogation he just said he'd seen grown ups privates.. The other wee bollix had just typed "porn" into google.. The pair of buckos are eight. I guess its time to put some parental controls on our computer.

Anyone got a suggestion of something downloadable thats good and preferably free??

I remember when I was 10 or so, a friend of mine did the same thing and went on my PC and was looking at a load of porn when my parents were out of the house.
Anyway there was major panic as I didnt know how to remove it from the URL history or address bar.
I asked my older cousin, who lived next door and she didnt know either, but she went down home to her own house and told the whole story in front of my uncles and their whole family that I had nudey women on the screen and couldnt get it off (the screen).
I still havnt lived it down and it was brought up again lately in conversation. Im 26 now  :D

Wee fecker probably knows more about computer than me

That's your problem. I think the only way to be completely assured that he's not exposed to inappropriate material is to supervise all computer access - effectively meaning he can only use the computer in the family room.

Of course, when he's in his mates' houses, you're at the mercy of their parents' access policies or lack thereof.

Hardy's correct - laptops and PC's in bedrooms etc are to be avoided, have computer in a main room only.

Hi all.  I'm using a Samsng Notebook and periodically it is going to Blue Screen.  I know something is wrong but the error message it gives me means nothing to me but it seems to be the same problem.  Does anyone here know what they mean?

The computer needs an ethernet port I imagine.
You can get a usb ethernet adaptor which would probably do the job.

Something like: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=46792
Or
http://www.dabs.com/products/startech-com-usb-to-ethernet-network-adapte-5JSH.html?q=usb%20ethernet%20adaptor

Got sometihng similar to what you recommended of amazon and it worked a treat so cheers Mhic

No idea, it's a load of programming malarkey, even if I did understand it, it wouldn't fix your problem as you would then have to debug the code of the O/S (whatever it is)
Try a scan with the tool Mhic Easmuint recommended for someone else a few posts up to potentially fix what's wrong

DOS wouldn't be my forte, would anyone know is it possible to write a batch programme that connects to various UNIX Servers where one could issue commands and check if Oracle databases are up and running?  I am currently writing a shell script that emails certain people each morning with this information but just want a belt and braces approach.

Have a look at 'Cygwin' and 'Putty SSH tunneling'. Simplest way would be to schedule the script or ssh onto the your Unix server and run it. Maybe your overthinking the problem?
