In Windows 10 there's an option to 'always allow' long file names by editing registry... Not as daunting as it sounds, courtesy of Google

Thanks, must look into that. How do you think that would work when transferring to the likes of a hard drive then though?

If you read the articles about this it seems that this issue crops up in various ways even if you make this change.
I'd first try and assess how many directories of files have this problem, it is probably only a few. If it is only one or two directories then you'd be better renaming them.

Anyone upgraded to Windows 11 yet? Any use?

Dear GAABoard techie support gurus,

I'm trying to access Easyjet website. On both Edge and Chrome browsers the connection times out. I can reach it okay using my iPhone. Easyjet is the only website with which I can a problem (no issues with porn sites, lol).

There doesnt appear to be any issue with Easyjet https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/easyjet.com.html

Anyone any ideas besides the obvious? No points for stating the obvious, lol.

When you say that you can reach it on your phone do you mean on the WiFi or on the mobile network?

I can reach it on my iPhone using wifi, but cannot reach it using wifi with my laptop on Chrome nor Edge.

Think I will try Firefox.

Any silly firewall settings?

Do you know it's a connection timeout? I don't know if you know anything about looking at responses in the browser but if so use chrome developer tools... if not ignore that comment lol.

Try your laptop tethering your phone or something like that. Rule out(or in) browser, router and laptop. Browser I would find very unlikely tbh.

A connection timeout would mean that either you're not getting the response out there or it's not getting back. There must be something in the middle messing with it.

I tried switching off the Firewall, but still not working.

The message that I eventually get is that the connection was reset

Fixed it. Found a block in my browser settings and I needed to reboot for it to take effect.

Yes, a fix on Chrome config appeared to fix Edge and Firefox. Yes, that is very strange, so maybe it was a firewall issue :-/

In older versions of Word, captions on images were locked to the image and moved with it.

Now in the current version of Word, if you change an image position to tight with text, the caption drifts away. Bastardos.

Word hasn't added any useful features in the last 20 years since Word for Windows 2.
Put the image and the caption in a table with two rows and one column.
