General discussion / Re: Coffee machine

Quote from: Last Man on January 19, 2024, 03:44:20 PMI decide to stick with a Bialetti Mocha pot from Tk-Max for 20quid. Lovely smell in the house in the morning. good beans required though, Belfast Coffee roasters hard to beat.
They sadly don't do decaff, but I had a bag of their Christmas blend (any different to any other time of the year??) and it was nice.

Try New Kid Coffee - friends of mine started it, based down in Letterkenny but they will deliver to NI for free if you order over €30 or so.  Really good.

I heard about a new baby in my wider family network - if that's you, then I never realised you were on here too, just knew of one of your older brothers.

Quote from: Mourne Red on January 18, 2024, 03:32:10 PMProbably frowned upon especially these days but we would have had to stay and hold our wee girls hand to help her fall asleep but when the other half was in hospital I done the "Cry it Out" method. Life saver wouldn't be the word.. Meant I had 1/2 hours in the evening to clean the house, do the washing, meal prep etc.. Also helped her sleep through the night which other half was glad off when she got out of hospital.

I used a sleep consultant (just one session) and she more or less gave me permission to do a version of "cry it out" - worked like a treat too, after two nights.  Has mainly slept through ever since.  About to transition him to a bed though - that'll be interesting...

First three months are tough.  Just ride it out.

And as someone said, tell your partner/OH to try to keep going with the feeding - I switched to bottles during the day at around 4/5 months, and kept feeding myself at night until they dropped those feeds, because I was too pure lazy to go down and make a bottle in the night.  And especially during the winter nights!  My husband obviously agreed with my approach - never once did he have to go and make a bottle during the night (though may have been dispensed for calpol the odd time)  ;D

Quote from: Blowitupref on January 12, 2024, 10:16:02 PMLoving the music on the show tonight.
Music was superb. Ralph McTell the icing on the cake. Really enjoyed it.

The Irish names thing from O'Brien was cringy but I mainly enjoyed him too.

Great show, seemed like people there were enjoying it.

I disagree. Cycled round a few vineyards in Sonoma and found a very nice pinot noir in one of them. Just coincidence that it was the last vineyard of the day 🤣

I got a fine in France too, just paid it. Don't want any sort of black mark as I'm there often. They are def strict, and lots of cameras everywhere.

Brought a bottle of Pinot noir back home from the Buena Vista winery in Sonoma, California. Maybe because of the effort, it sticks in my head as being the nicest red I'd ever had. I like the lighter French Fleuries/Beaujolais too. For whites, and sticking with France, I like Chablis, Pouilly Fuisse, Sancerre, all dry whites.

I'm avoiding alcohol for a few weeks, but a girls' ski trip at the end of the month will involve a fair bit of Côtes du Rhône.

Thinks it's a bargain!! Fecking nuts, current tree is fine..

This bargain is already decorated with lights... a job that takes her 15 minutes to do with the current one after I get it outta the loft.

Cost of living crisis my arse
Tell me more about the tree...

Depends on how many of those clubs are in the county though! Each individual club dilutes the share of the €1m.

Quote from: Rois on December 14, 2023, 07:37:50 PMThere are still some clubs that have separate men's and women's football, and camogie and hurling clubs are also included. So in Tyrone, each club might get £4k each.

It is a fantastic gesture that will cause plenty of headaches  ;D
Ah now, there isn't 250 clubs in Tyrone

No, the £4k was tongue in cheek, but I saw a figure of £20k mentioned on social media - that was very optimistic.  50 could become 100 when you add in hurling, camogie and separate ladies' clubs.

I'm a newbie to the place.

I walk through Kilwilkie regularly (live up near the old St Michael's school) and never once felt unsafe.  I walked down to Victoria Street yesterday to get my car fixed - it is a wee bit different and I wouldn't want to be walking down there on my own late at night.
