Only one winner here, Harte will be a loss but Tyrone would have to play as badly as Mayo and Galway did against ros before we have any chance in this one.

GAA Discussion / Joe Corcoran rip
October 26, 2017, 10:11:55 PM
Sad to hear the great Joe Corcoran has passed to his eternal reward. In my 60 years watching Connacht football I consider him to one of the finest I have seen,  the most gifted of them all in my opinion, could do anything with a ball. I have seen all of the great forwards in that time but jinkin Joe was special.
Sympathy to his family and friends. R.I.P.

So much for lobsided easy provincial championships, time for a changeing of the guard in Connacht.
But who will be the new Kings?

Sunday next is the throw in for this years senior football championship, will Mayo lose their crown, if so who will topple them? not a word so far in any paper or forum about Galway, the Rossie lovers have moved on after our Kerry mauling, none of the rest are likely champs or are they?
Time to start the insults.

Its Kerry v Roscommon next Sunday and all Rossies hope we can give a good account of ourselves in what will be our biggest challenge so far, Kerry seem to be flying these last few Sundays and Ros have lost their last 2 games against a very ordinary Mayo team and the super all conquering Dubs.

The Dubs are coming to town next weekend or are they. We have no pitch so we are like the farmer that sold the cows to buy a milking machine
Anyway we have to get on with it where ever it is played. We wont have our u21 players available so we are down to the team that started today. The week will be a long one for those lads and I am sure they will want to get back out on the field and play some football. Playing the dubs is not a great place to be looking for solace so lets hope our lads can get moving again and put up a respectable performance.
My guess is the game could be in Tullamore as Offaly are away in Limerick and it is really that or Tuam.

GAA Discussion / Div 1 Donegal v Roscommon.
March 08, 2016, 09:34:56 PM
I see that Donegal v Down hurling league fixture is being played as a curtain raiser on Sunday so the pitch in Letterkenny must be in good condition. The game is in Letterkenny  but the only issue I have is the
3 pm start, this will leave us very late starting on the long journey home. Lets hope the weather and driving conditions are good.
Donegal will have to line out without Neil McGee and McLoone but they have a strong panel and that wont effect them. A big ask for the Rossies and once again we are rank outsiders but that has not stopped us so far. Great days for us Rossies and lets hope we once again put in a big performance.

Gerry O Malley one of the great footballers of his or any other era passed to his eternal reward today.
Every Rossie of my own vintage will have fond memories of the great Gerry, he was a leader on and off the field.
He had many wonderful days in the primrose and blue but none better than the 1962 Connacht final v Galway in Mchale Park, that was the day of the "broken crossbar", Galway were leading by 5 points when Aiden Brady broke the crossbar with about 10 minutes to go, there was about a 15 minute interval while replacing the bar, Ros reshuffled their team and O Malley single handedly grabbed the game by the scruff leading Roscommon to what was a legendary victory.
There were many other great days in the Ros  jersey, he was  one of our greatest ever leaders, he will be remembered fondly where ever football is discussed .
He will be missed in Roscommon and beyond but mostly by his family and large circle of friends. R.I.P.

GAA Discussion / All Ireland day
November 09, 2015, 11:21:42 PM
What a wonderful programme on RTE tonight and a brilliant insight into all aspects of all Ireland final day.
Only a station that understands the very fibre of the gaa and Irish society could produce such a superb piece of television. Well done to all concerned.

Colm O Rourke stated in  todays Irish indo that Down and The Rossies played rotten football in this years national league,
over to ye. This should be fun.

GAA Discussion / Roscommon v Galway div.2
March 23, 2015, 07:48:14 PM
Massive stakes in the Hyde next Sunday for both teams, Rossies win they would almost certainly be promoted and Galway would find themselves with one foot in div 3, outside of championship I cannot remember a bigger game between these provincial rivals, many questions hang over both teams, some will be answered on Sunday, some hearts will be broken, cant wait, remember early throw in 1.30.

Pat Spillane has declared an interest in the vacent Kerry u21 post, says he wants to give something back to Kerry football, well I hope he gets it, going on his tv punditary he has very little clue of whats going on in gaa games, his analysis often borders on laughable and his cheap side swipes especially at lesser teams have always been unwarranted,if he gets it we will definitely all have some laughs and maybe its laugh back time.

GAA Discussion / Gaa takes over Mayo debt
February 23, 2015, 09:29:24 PM
It is being reported in tomorrows Mayo news that the Mayo county board is set to save up to 200k per annum in payments as the gaa takes over their debt. Its going to be interesting.
