Legendary St. Jarlath's coach passes away
14 September 2010

One of the most successful coaches in the Hogan Cup's 57-year history has died.

Tributes have been pouring in for Fr Oliver Hughes, who was synonymous with the second level competition's most successful team - St. Jarlath's College, Tuam - who passed away today. Fr Ollie was involved with St. Jarlath's teams for 30 years, during which time he coached some of the top footballers in Connacht, including Padraic Joyce and Michael Meehan.

The Galway nursery has won the Hogan Cup a record 12 times and Fr Ollie masterminded several of those successes, including the most recent in 2002 when Michael Meehan was captain.

I don't think Keanes dog died.

I put an insertion in the Irish News. I wonder can I get a refund?

Terry Newton - Rugby League player.
Not a lot of people on here might not have heard tell of him, but i watched a programme recently where former Ireland Rugby player Brian Carney interviewed him about his worldwide ban for taking drugs. i thought at the time he was clearly devastated. He was found hanged this morning !
