That is a lot of men not getting football who have to be kept happy, which appears to have been a problem in the last 2 seasons when you consider the lads who dropped out.

Were R Canavan and McGleenan held back for u20s or what was reason for thier omission?

Both injured. But McGleenan is overage for the 20’s. Only 2 players still available for the 20’s are Canavan & Cush. I assume they will both go back to the 20’s within the next few weeks in preparation for the Ulster Championship

What is the rule on u20's playing for seniors and then dropping back to U20 competition?
Is it just a Championship appearance for seniors in the same year that makes you ineligible? Or do National league games count?

I think some of Derry's U20s played in the League last year and still were available for U20 Championship so must just be Senior Championship rules you out.

Think this is correct. A senior championship appearance automatically rules you out if U20’s as far as I am aware. Does it only concern 2 players currently?

Shockingly poor social media coverage of the McKenna Cup from all concerned - Tyrone GAA, Ulster GAA….

No teams, no panels, only found this link by pure chance on another board page

Surely the Ulster GAA can publicise their competitions better than this! Even tell all counties to release panels prior to the competition starting to let public know who is on squad

Booked flights to Dubai earlier. Need to get a hotel sorted. Anyone any good recommendations of areas to stay in for 6 nights?

Personally I prefer the Jumeirah Beach Residence area. Purely because there are plenty of places to eat etc within walking distance along The Walk and you are also right on Jumeirah Beach.
A friend of mine stayed around the La Mer area recently and liked it also.
Lots of people like the Palm - but it’s a long way from other areas.
But lots of people happy to stay on Atlantis there for the duration of their holiday.
Expensive spot to stay tho

Yes, JBR area is perfect. Right on the beach, near the marina and surrounded by great bars & restaurants plus shops for the people that need those also.

Would not be a fan of excessive heat however from what I can see peak season and therefore dearer prices start from 20th July onwards.  Will definitely get greater value if we go in early / mid July.

Any recommendations for Spain / France / Italy?

Salou in north east Spain about an hour south of Barcelona. Great water parks, like a mini Disney type resort near a typical seaside resort town

Planning for next summer,

Any recommendations on the continent, kids are aged 4 - 12 so water park type resorts would be a preference.   Thinking of going all inclusive as there is 6 of us.

Agree 100%.

Brilliant all inclusive hotels and some come with small water parks etc. ideal for the age group you mention. However, it is seriously hot in summer time

so is their not going to be any club football to july is that not a bit long of a break.

This can’t be possible.

Assume the leagues are 15 games then you need July, August, September and most of October to get that all played. Where does championship fit in?

Surely the league will be like last year. Start end of April/early May and play 5 starred games every two weeks to get us up to end of June before a possible break to allow county team to finish up assuming they get to AI semi finals

Tyrone can’t play 15 league games plus a championship in 14/16 weeks if championship winners at all grades are to be ready for Ulster series in November

A club who had never won a senior county title  now has two to it's name and champions of Ulster.  Maybe it took an outside management team to harness this at senior level and get the optimum return from a clearly talented group.

Glen have had outside managers before O’Rourke for sure.

They had Jude Donnelly from 2018-2020 and Mickey Culbert before that for a few years. In between them 2 was Enda Gormley for 3 years

The current crop of players haven't had a manager from outside Derry before O'Rourke I don't think.

Kilcoo are no saints but some things I noticed just to level up
Warnock persistent holding and dragging of devlin but devlin gets black card.

Glenn lad was allowed to run across the eyeline of the kilcoo caretaker twice but nothing done by ref.

Glenn manager threw a second ball onto the field of play in the second half when kilcoo were on attack.

Jerome j taken out in mid air on 15 mins by Bradley also.

that was as dangerous as the pull down on Glass

I know it is a different sport but in rugby terms that was a red card at the minimum a yellow (sin bin). You can’t make contact with a player who is airborne. Player safety rule.

Not saying it is right but it just gives perspective on that type of challenge.
