Rangers might will need 3 penalties, I don't think this ref would give them.

The hand of God is not with them.

Tuchel: "What makes us really angry is the explanation on the field. He told our players that it's a kids mistake and he will not give a penalty like this in a quarter-final."

Yeah that's what it looked like.

100% Penalty - Referee and even more so VAR bottled it!
Like the mistake a Spurs goalie made from a throw in when touching the ball in a failed attempt to trap it before it trickled into the net. A kid´s mistake for sure::)

Saka up to his usual tricks, the ref got it spot on.

The only thing from a Monaghan point of view about yesterday's result is the added inconvenience for Tyrone.

So,what do these extra people do?
Very little.
Those are the 2nd level teachers.  Nurses & Doctors should not be jammed  in alongside that lot of wasters.

Well deserved  for Cavan, the only criticism I'd have is that the game should have been in their bag long before their second goal. Dreadful lifeless  performance by Monaghan and management.

Quote from: marty34 on April 07, 2024, 02:38:00 PMCeltic need to call out Beaton and his officiatating.  Very poor but not unexpected. A no penalty given to get them in the game. I knew he'd give them a gift of a penalty. Celtic need to call that out.

In saying that, Celtic being 2-0 up and 3-2 up in injury time and giving up the draw is poor.

Disappointing but league still in Celtic's hands. No more slip ups. Know what is at stake now in terms of winning all the games.
Beaton made the correct call at first and he was just a few paces away from it. But he didn't have any choice when VAR intervened. Var repeatedly showed the incident from only one angle  and only from after the touch by Johnston. What the ref didn't see on the VAR replay was Johnston's outstretched leg shifted the ball away and that's what Silva ran into and dived in an obvious simulation.

In general the ref did well but he did choose to miss 3 or 4 yellow card fouls for Rangers players

Quote from: screenexile on April 07, 2024, 01:15:56 PMCeltic have been poor this half. Not sure what Suttons on about it's a penalty all day!
I thought it was very soft pen. Clearly pokes the ball away. Would have only been a penalty if it was foul play as getting the ball doesn't matter during foul play.
Not even the Ranger's co-commentator thought it was remotely a penalty.

Quote from: Rossfan on April 06, 2024, 02:40:10 PMHandy win for Monaghan tomorrow?

If Cavan are as poor as they finished the league it will be handy win for Monaghan. However this is championship playing the neighbours and live on BBC and RTE if no kick and competitive showing from Cavan it will speak volumes about them.

Cavan were pretty bad in the league but still were hard to beat. Meath for example should have had them beat out the gate by half time in Breffni but by the 60th minute Cavan were ahead.
Monaghan are brittle and low on confidence, plus they are missing their big attacking threats.

Best value bet is Monaghan ahead at HT but Cavan by a couple at the end.
I hope you go ahead and put a shít load of money on that one.
Anyway that's enough talk about other teams in Ulster, let's get back to chat about the AI Final Derry ('the second coming') V the Dubs

Quote from: bennydorano on April 03, 2024, 09:39:10 AMSome people with short memories, was there not a Russian sub at their geopolitical games of the coast of Cork last year?

Regardless of all the other points, the Russian State was not responsible for the HSE ransomware attack despite where it is believed to have originated from based upon the evidence.

Stating otherwise is false and Ireland has a greater threat from cyber crime gangs than rogue nations hacking us for geopolitical reasons. We are just not that important in the grand scheme of things.

The Conti and Trickbot groups are the acknowledged gangs who hacked into HSE.
From a Wired article
Last month UK and USA intell service outed and sanctioned 7 named persons and  "the UK and US are now explicitly calling out links between Conti and Trickbot and Russia's intelligence services"

Those hacking gangs have overtly  pledged allegiance to the Russian state at/since the time of full scale invasion of Ukraine.

"Highly Likely"  is good enough for me to claim that there are well developed links between the cyber criminals and Russian intelligence. Inflicting such mayhem around Europe or supporting in some form or another from a distance is part and parcel of the Kremlin modus operandi.

I never disputed that the Russia uses these cyber gangs for their own means?

In fact I clearly stated cyber gangs are tolerated and some are even hired on behalf of the state. We know there are links between these groups and nation states (and have been proven to be the case in certain attacks).

This is not the movies and these are not a few lads in bedrooms. These are large criminal enterprises with lots of resources and very sophisticated supply chains. It's a very lucrative business and what is reported is only the tip of the iceberg.

Still regardless of these links between the criminals and Russian intelligence, there is no creditable evidence that the HSE attack was a Russian state sanctioned attack. It followed a similar pattern to previous Ransomware attacks by this group and stating that neutral Ireland is under attack from Russia is just hyperbole.

The simple fact is Ireland (and many countries) are constantly at risk of attacks from cyber criminals, and the likelihood of those attacks are much greater than a nation state attack.
Who claimed you did dispute that Russia uses these cyber gangs for their own purposes?
In my and most others opinion, being complicit with the Russian based cyber gangs to reap havoc in Europe carries the same weight of guilt as the doer of the dastardly deeds.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 01, 2024, 04:21:28 PMIs it not the same premise? I.e. no goal?

To look at the rule differently

An attacker can't carry the ball over the line, no goal

A defender though if he carries the ball over the line it's a goal

So it's nearly the same as the above question.

Which is in the rule book that everyone is an expert on  ;D
imtommygunn was asking a question. Are us plebs not allowed to ask questions in the Rules&Regulations discussion thread without being cyber mocked by a (self claimed) 89% expert on the rules?  ;D

The reason I gave the percentage is this, surely the ref's know all the rules? the reality is different, at club level you only need get 80%, and most just get over that percentage, and not on the first attempt either mind you.

So when people are on a discussion board discussing this was a foul and why was that given, it gives you some perspective on the over the fence ref's! Most would fail miserably on a rules test but are ready to berate you for 60 minutes!

I was not that serious about the 89%  but my point stands, anybody here in this thread should be able to ask a question about a rule without some level of mockery directed against them re the ignorance of said questioner, give or take a metre or so.

It's a discussion board yes and my posts are mainly tongue firmly in cheek but as wobbler said, it's annoying when people come across so right in their view that they take offence when corrected!

This filters down to behind the fence, on sideline and on the pitch. You'd expect senior players to know the rules? So if I come across with some mockery, don't take it personally, it's frustration mainly.

In other threads - post match threads, you are welcome to ride the high horse and take the pee. But here, when somebody asks a question I´d say either offer up a reply with no add-on sarcastic comment or just don't reply.

When it comes to the Kremlin terrorist state shenanigans, presume guilt & lies until otherwise informed.
Poland, Finland and the Baltic states only know that too well.
