OK, so how many are we expected to take?

I thought you were taking none and instead shipping to 🇷🇼 ?

What a red herring. Where does it end? Come on, tell us.

Yup, right decision.

I think Westmeath are in a bit of a bind on that one, in so far as they have a reasonably good u20 side playing Dublin on Sunday, but also a must-win game v Offaly in the McDonagh on Saturday. What do they do?!

Welllll... That's like saying the Mountmellick-Portarlington set-up also includes The Rock and Kilcavan. Or PRT also includes a lot of football clubs from the south east of the county.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 21, 2024, 09:38:04 PMSome interesting results in the Joe mcdonagh. Wouldn't have expected Kerry to beat Westmeath or Laois to beat Offaly.

The former was certainly a surprise, but the latter was very much a 50/50 game. I think the bookies couldn't even decide - I don't follow those prices much, but someone said both teams were even money?

Even more delighted with how we won!

Exactly! Usually them that get the late goal to sink us, so this was indeed sweet. Not as good as the Dublin win, but still very good! Of course, it's only a first step. Great to have Picky to come in in the second half - and he had a lot to add to the mix besides just the frees. Purcell's trademark goal really the turning point. Up till then, our forwards couldn't really get motoring, with a lot of terrible ball in. In fairness, Offaly also guilty of hitting a bit of aimless ball. But after that first Purcell goal, it became real helter-skelter stuff, and in injury-time there can't have been a free given and the backs defended for their lives. Often wondered why Tom Cuddy was there, but he contributed well today. What's the odds of a re-match in the final? Quite short, I'd say!

Cathal Dunne played the match against Kerry, when Laois were already through to the semi-final. Always tough being understudy to a 'legend'...

Quote from: Laois Abu on April 01, 2024, 10:26:51 AMWhere was Ross King yesterday he was flying it in previous matches?

Really? I didn't think he was that good against Down, and deservedly got taken off.

?? Ross wasn't even on the panel against Down I think. He scored 1-07 against Kerry, 1-04 from play.

I'm talking about the semi-final against Down in O'Moore Park a couple of weeks ago. He started at centre-forward. Taken off at half-time, or shortly after it. I remember wondering why he wasn't taking the frees instead of Aaron Dunphy.

Exactly - what was wrong with Carlow?! However, good performance from our lads. A complete reversal of the form from the first day, from both teams!

Thought he was standing in the Euros? I'd like to be wrong, but I'd say his chances are small.

Quote from: seafoid on March 24, 2024, 05:34:38 PM19 wides. 10 frees sent wide.

Clare went up the gears when needed but in general the standard of hurling was poor over the weekend and whilst it may not have looked like it the Down lads say there was quite a lot of sand on the pitch in Portlaoise which probably contributed to the bunching, inability to rise the ball first time etc etc which ensured the game didn't really have any pace to it.

There was an awful lot of sand on the pitch. Seemingly, a drainage pipe broke underneath, and with all the rain, it had to be fixed - so the pitch was dug up to do it last week.

Quote from: PadraicHenryPearse on March 25, 2024, 07:51:22 AMI very a couple of questions now. One, is ISIS a more reliable news source than Russia in your opinion?

Russia is a terrorist state, what is ISIS? Israel? America, US, UK, etc.

Exactly. And they all lie.
