General discussion / SkyPlus box
July 11, 2012, 03:57:11 PM
Currently have that SkyPlus malarky at home. We have it in the living room and another box in the bedroom. We can pause, rewind, record etc in the box in the living room, but we just have a normal box in the bedroom.

Is it possible to buy another SkyPlus box (or whatever it's called) and put it in the bedroom, so we can pause, record etc like we can in the living room? Any help on where to buy one, price, how to install etc would be greatly appreciated.

I got tickets gave to me for Monday nights event.

I've no idea how to get to the Lyric Theatre. Anyone know the best route, and where to park?

Who's your money on?

Can't see Donegal doing it again, so I'm going for Tyrone.

General discussion / Music on YouTube
May 08, 2012, 10:56:21 PM
Why can't I get any proper songs up on YouTube? I can only get live versions of songs. What the hell is going on? (This is on the iPhone by the way).

Anyone know if the Give My Head Peace theme song is available on any Saw Doctors CD?

Why isn't League Sunday available on the RTE Player iPhone App? I watched it on the RTE Player on the laptop a few weeks ago.

General discussion / Generating your own electricity
March 17, 2012, 01:34:14 PM
I looking into ways of generating electricity, and get fully or partially, off the grid. Basically I would like to know about the methods available (windmill, solar panels etc), the cost involved, if there are grants available (for pensioners, those on benefits etc) for installing them. And how much electricity can be generated by these methods. As I say, would like to totally get off the grid is possible, but at least be able to generate most of my own electricity.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

GAA Discussion / Donegal's record at Croke Park
March 14, 2012, 10:46:04 PM
I was reading the Declan Bonner interview in Gaelic Life from a few weeks ago. He was talking about the 1992 semi final v Mayo, and that prior to that game, Donegal (seniors) had never won a match at Croke Park. Would this be correct? I suppose they only won their first Ulster title in 1973 or 74, but I thought maybe they may have won a league game there.

If that is indeed the case, they haven't won many matches in total at Croke Park, to date. I'm not trying to be smart or belittling about it. I'm just fascinated that those guys had the self-belief in 1992 to do what no other Donegal team had ever done before. Not only did they win at Croke Park, but they won Sam too. They were a great team though, with unbelievably gifted players.

Hope to head down and make a weekend of it. Don't know much about Portlaoise. Anyone have any recommendations on where to stay, eat, things to do/see etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

After United's win at Tottenham, it's looking like a two horse race between the two Manchester clubs for the title. Who do you fancy to win it?

City have a few tricky away games left, and I think they are more likely to slip up than United. United for me.

Surely the final needs a thread of it's own.

It's a pity Captain Stephen Kernan will miss the final. I think the Cross lads will win, so that would be very disappointing for Kernan as he wouldn't be able to collect the trophy.

General discussion / Elvis impersonators
March 02, 2012, 01:37:59 PM
Now I like Elvis as much as the next man. I'm not a huge fan, but I don't mind most of his music. But does anyone find Elvis impersonators incredibly annoying?

I listen to Hector on 2FM most days and lately it's all about Elvis impersonators. It's no wonder there's so many people trying to be Elvis impersonators because anyone can do an impression of Elvis. Can't something be done to rid the country of these sad individuals?

General discussion / Drink drinking laws
February 24, 2012, 02:52:41 PM
OK, I'm hoping someone can clarify something for me...

What is the law regarding drink driving? Not the legal limit and all that, as I dont drink and drive. But, at what point can someone be arrested/fined for drink driving? As far as I was aware, it was when you actually put the key into the ignition. Is this correct, or is it a grey area, or does it depend on what mood the "Piznee" (PSNI) are in at the time?

General discussion / iPhone virus?
February 15, 2012, 07:47:59 PM
Is it possible to get a virus on the iPhone 4? Yesterday I got an email that came in all all haywire. Recipient text me to say I might have a virus.

Can a virus affect an iPhone? What should I do?

General discussion / Handshaking before matches
February 07, 2012, 01:18:18 PM
Is it just me or does anyone else think this handshaking malarky before soccer matches is a load of bollocks? I see it's creeping into the GAA now too.

All the talk of would Rio shake John Terry's hand? Would Wayne Bridge shake John Terry's hand? For feck sake, it's like wee girls pulling each others ponytails in primary school.

Theres plenty of time for handshakes afterwards, as all good sportsmen should do anyway. But this forced debacle beforehand gives me the shites!
