Quote from: jcpen on April 12, 2024, 09:42:09 AMQuote from: statto on April 12, 2024, 09:16:37 AMI think he actually gets extra criticism because he's Irish. From the games I've watched he has been very good recently. One bad mistake from the first goal last night and people are all over him again having a go at him. Not a word then when he puts a string of good performances together. It could have been a worse defeat last night only for some of the saves he made.Quote from: johnnycool on April 12, 2024, 08:14:02 AMKelleher had a mixed bag of a night to be fair, an absolute wonder save (with his face) to save a certain goal a few minutes before he was slow to get down to the first goal. Can't help but think Kelleher getting extra protection on here as he's Irish if Raya or Onana concede those goals they are getting pelters. The first goal which is a howler then has a massive impact on game. Don't see how you can proportion more blame on Salah who came on at ht to a team that was clearly not at themselves.
His distribution was also poor but I think credit has to be given to Atalanta, they'd worked out the Liverpool restart strategy, didn't allow the first set of passes to get into midfield and when it goes back to Kelleher he tries to lop in just beyond midfield into the spaces behind the press, but they were there for it and physically much stronger in that area.
Atalanta won midfield throughout the game.
Gakpo had one of his better evenings and it seems he's better suited at picking the ball up in deep areas and then driving forward with it, he's not a hold up type centre forward and neither is he a run off the shoulder lad.
Nunez's wastefulness in front of goal and Salah is just dire at the minute is the main reason Liverpool are in this position.
Quote from: Turf on April 10, 2024, 02:49:32 PMSure Munich should have had a penalty for handball that Arsenal fans don't seem to be talking about!
Quote from: gawa316 on April 10, 2024, 04:27:10 PMQuote from: J70 on April 09, 2024, 11:56:27 PMThe only established world class player Klopp signed was Thiago. For all the rest, they were making their first step up to an elite level club (and in the earlier years, a club climbing back to that level).
But obviously Klopp and his reputation and record were a huge factor for Liverpool that will be hard to replicate at first. Luckily there is a high level squad there now and the opportunity for the next man to get a good head start. Outside of replacing Matip this summer, are there any obvious holes to be filled? The biggest talking points will be the contracts of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent.
Do we need to replace Matip? Quansah (the odd stray pass aside ) has been excellent this season. We have VVD, Konate, Gomez, & Quansah. You bring someone in, you talking about 40 + mil no doubt to take minutes away from Quansah. I think I'd rather promote another youth player to 5th choice.

He will be thinking come September what am I going to do with myself.

Most blatant, bordering on comical, attempt by an attacker to engineer contact I've ever seen!
I know! Anyone that leaves/drags a leg into a defender/keeper to engineer a penalty needs 60 lashes

Quote from: Captain Obvious on April 09, 2024, 04:28:23 PMQuote from: statto on April 09, 2024, 11:23:17 AMAmorim in talks according to talkport to replace Klopp. Not sure how I feel about this, Man United went down the route of getting a manager who has won trophies in one of the lesser leagues and hasn't really worked. De Zerbe could be another Graham Potter if got a " big job" no real stand out candidate at the moment for me. Would take Ange over De Zerbe given choice.
Wouldn't compare what has gone on with a poor ran club like Manchester United, even Klopp would have struggled there. If you want a manager with high vibes with a big focus on attacking and little focus on defending which the media love in choose to ignore then Ange Postecoglou is your man however I doubt that style of play will be good enough to retain the Premier league title for Liverpool next season.

Should have took them off them last season.
Quote from: Milltown Row2 on April 08, 2024, 10:59:10 AMQuote from: Armamike on April 08, 2024, 10:49:53 AMWill be great to see Jota back. Hopefully he won't need much time to get up to speed. The amount of chances that are being coughed up is crazy, while the opposition get one sniff and score! Mo is off it completely. Looks like he's lost his sharpness and burst of speed. But that doesn't explain why he's ballooning clear shots on goal. I saw online reference being made to him fasting for Ramadan. That didn't seem to affect him too much in previous years!
Is he the only Muslim player Liverpool have? Most team would have Salah playing, he's scored 21 goals in 32 games, granted, a handy penalty here and there but you still have to put them away
