Depsite being 2nd best for a lot of the game we could've and should've grabbed a point. 2 decent performances in a week though so signs of improvement.

The Jon Jo Shelvey lookalike LL better get all of his hilarious quips in soon as I would place any amount of money that he chooses that we'll finish above them this season .

City could and should have had a couple of penalties.  But yeah, credit to United for not giving up late on.

Smalling sending off the turning point of that game, his side might have drawn that game if he wasn't so foolish.
City were by far the better team even before the sending off and could have been 3 up and then should have had two stonewall penalties.
United only got back into when City started to sit back.

Its OK though as United have more likes on Facebook.... ;D

Good luck on Tuesday, mate and his son away over, thinks its going to be a great game lol
Not expecting anything from it but sure it's nice to be in it all the same.

That's good, at least you're an honest spud

You are aware of Liverpool fans who they'll get a result?

Bollocks!

Good news for the rest of ulster. I don't like him and having watched his carry on on the sideline I don't wish him any luck either.

Oh well... ::)

Question for those who believe and understand the theory if evolution. Why did we develop two eyes instead of one?

And while you're at it, why did we not evolve with four eyes, two at the front and two at the rear?

1st question: As haveaharp says, parallax allows us to judge distance and presumably speed.

2nd question: You'd want eyes in the back of your head to know that one.

Yes I also watched that programme that explained how we use parallax to determine the distance of stars. But how did we know that at the start? It would also have taken a long time for sight to be developed in the eye.

Know what at the start?

There is no predetermined goal or target in evolution. Natural selection is about adapting to present conditions. Adaptations can accumulate, but it's a blind process,  pardon the pun.

As for the evolution of the eye and vision, just about every point in the sequence is present in nature, from light sensitive spots in flatworms to the acute vision of the eagle eye.

Spiders have eight eyes. Insects have compound eyes. Doubt if there is any reason for vertebrates having two beyond it being a successful set up - some redundancy, but not wasteful, depth perception or two directional etc. In other words, two eyes evolved, and it worked! Natural selection can only work with the materials at hand.

Ha ha

Cracking stuff. Character if nothing else. Have we ever scored two headers before! Expect Liverpool to put a bid in for Swansea keeper after that effort for the second goal.

Mario....finally.

Glad mad mario scored. Apparently put himself around a bit too. That's two promising showings from him in a week. Some sort of record. Wanted to fight shelvey afterwards too 😄

I thought his goal was with his foot though, not a header?

The Swansea sending off was very poor from the ref.

You're right AZ, it was foot. In the excitement and my stream I took it as a header. Still two goals from crosses, unheard off!
That was a fantastic cross from Borini for the Balotelli goal.
I thought Borini played well throughout.

You have to wonder why he doesn't get more run outs. Limited player, but he's a hard worker who moves and shows for the ball, something Liverpool could use more of.

It's quite simple. If Donaghy wasn't available,  Donegal or Mayo would be All Ireland champions.

He deserves it.

Balotelli looks like he's trying and (too) desperate to score, but he needs some serious coaching in how to play in that team. He has no concept of moving, creating space and going to where the ball will be.

Very poor and lucky to win. All I can say is thank christ they weren't playing someone like Real Madrid today!

Right, the 0.003% of the total debt figure that is spent on foreign aid is the big problem!  :o

A gamble I think. Everybody seems to think that a good number 2 can be a good manager at county level. Paul Grimley, Tally, Moran and now Rory, and they are all knowledgeable men who have done well, but not just the same as the men they supported.

Short of getting Mickey Harte or James Horan in, anyone is a gamble. Big Jim is an impossible act to follow.  People will have to be patient and give Rory a chance. If he doesn't work out, you try again.

A McGinley adds to Ryan McHugh's four goals.

Kilcar going to finally win the senior championship for the first time since the senior McHugh brothers' days?

That doesn't make any sense. This year, he brought us to the final after getting rid of Gallagher and losing McHugh (whatever the reason for his departure). We were the width of the post away from a draw, and a horrendous, never-to-be-repeated mistake the reason for our loss. Unless Cassidy is saying the presence of Rory Gallagher could have made a difference in the final, I don't see his logic.
Last year, I suppose he could have tried to have the club championship put on hold during the Ulster championship, but apart from drawing the ire, again, of the broad GAA community by doing that, what else could he do last year? Gallagher and McHugh were on board. There isn't a whole lot you can do about injuries and the loss of form and hunger in a relatively small squad. Whatever about the Mayo vengeance factor, had Colm McFadden not lost his form for the Ulster final, we would probably have run Monaghan quite close, albeit I think they had our number no matter what on the day. Unless he is insinuating that his own presence might have made the difference. If that is the case, was he not invited back in the spring of 2012?
Lastly, he was there in 2011. Is he suggesting we should have pushed on against Dublin? He was on the field...

I would think the three nominees for POTY will each get one. Conversely, I think Ryan McHugh has been nominated as YPOTY as he will not get an All Star. My best guess at how they will go:

P Durcan
P Murphy, E McGee, K Higgins
P Crowley, F McGlynn, C Boyle
D Moran, N Gallagher
D Connolly, M Murphy, P Flynn
J O'Donoghue, K Donaghy, C O'Connor

POTY JO'D
YPOTY R McHugh

Unlucky to miss out: A Mallon, R McHugh, A O'Shea, R Beggan

I'd have N McGee there.
One player unlucky to lose out again is Donnacha Walsh. Has done immense work, carrying the ball and winning dirty ball. One of Kerry's star and key players, but because its not glamorous work, he'll get overlooked. Had a decent chance til Murphy was moved to the half forwards. Donnacha Walsh far more deserving of an All Star than Diarmuid Connolly imo.

My arse he is. Connolly has been brilliant all year. Anyone who thinks he isn't an all star shoe in is quite frankly an idiot

No way any senior Player of the Year nominee doesn't get an All Star.
