BBC saying Poots is putting his name forward in South Down.  Squeezed out of his own patch by Jeffrey, and Jim Wells will go nuts. They are like rats on a sinking ship.

Wells might make room for Poots, he would not budge for Jeffrey.

Wells backed Poots leadership plot so there’s a friendship there, or is it a betrayal by Poots?

Whichever, there are elements in South Down that might see Poots as a fitting replacement for Wells in a way Jeffrey would not be.
It is still strange though if Jeffrey cannot run in his home place and has to drive Poots out of his home place.

They don’t add any value, in fact they are worse.  Pengelly and Cairns come on spouting the DUP line, and if they are asked a tricky question, they say “well of course I’m no longer with the party so can’t comment”.  Waste of time.

I am surprised he didn’t try North Down, Alex Easton stepped down from the party an is sitting in stormont an independent I think?? Tho I do think if DUP ran 3 in Lagan Valley they could get them elected with Donaldson on the ticket. Donaldson has always had strong personal vote in that area.

Alex Easton is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he works incredibly hard for his constituents and for that reason he is very popular and a poll topper. I would expect him to get elected because of his strong personal vote and this constituency’s past history of electing independents.
