Mulhare doesn't seem to be doing many club games at the minute. Just based it on that Tbh.

Laois / Laois Club Referees

I'd like peoples opinion on our best referees in the county. Football & Hurling if you like. I see more football than hurling.

My top 5 in football would be

1. Maurice Deegan
2. Eddie Kinsella
3. Brendan McCann
4. David Moore
5. Clifford Ward

agree with all that. if you can dream it, the county board will allow it. Farcical setup at present.

Not sure why club officials from all other intermediate teams did not disagree with mountmellick gaels in this a 2nd tier competition back in February/March when it ratified.

We missed 3/4 easy point chances in 1st half think it caught up on us. We will get it hard to qualify two come out of group. Meath seem strong in this. Nevertheless i thought our lads tried hard last night.

I thought we played decent a bit disappointed in the end we didnt get a draw, Our defender near the end was a bit reckless with the challenge for leading score. Thought bennett, bolger, dunne, lowry, whelan were good. like a previous poster dont know what tyrell done when he came on to impress.

Best of luck to team. I came out against appointment of Billy but he has had an impossible job I hope we compete well in this not expecting much.

Tough game and for a very worthy cause but with a full round of club fixtures on saturday night and another round on thursday night 3games in 5 days seems alot to ask the county lads, can see a good few not togging for their clubs which wont go down well
Id be of the opinion two weeks before wexford game, There after playing a few league games with clubs. Leave them with county and give the wexford game all the focus.

Looking at the fixtures there, 2 matches within 2 weeks of leaving cert & there 3rd match during exams seems ridiculous start for this new competition.

I agree with the one the hop post. I am very impressed with sugrue so far, the way he gave nurney valuable game time which will benefit him as he develops.. then bringing back in  Timmons when needed was smart & the off the pitch stuff has been perfect have listened to 90% of his interviews. On the match first half was good, second half not so great. But it's early days 7/7 you can't ask for much more. My MOM was Gareth dillon, followed by Brady,  Ross,  Timmons & Johno. Thought all players tried hard.

without paul & gary, we will be bother to get scores. hopefully gary will learn from this. I think this will be a tight one, I hope we are capable of beating them without our best two forwards going on league form. As kevin keegan once said i would love it if we beat them. Laois ABU

Laois & Carlow are probably ranked between 20 - 24 at the minute. Im not bigging up Carlow on form from last years championship they were better than us thats all im saying. I hope we beat them out the gate but can see another big struggle ahead.

Im of the opinion sugrue has made progress. Looking over previous seasons now Laois cannot take any team for granted. I think Carlow will be a bigger test this week with two our best forwards likely to be missing. At the start of the season i would of been happy with promotion and a championship win against Wexford. This a momentum changing game win and spirits are up for championship. I dont want to think of alternative but it is a big possibilty as this carlow team on the road longer than us.
