Had a mate who worked in Hendersons a few years ago.

Probably does not apply to the Franchisees but re their own shops due to their 'beliefs' no lottery tickets for sale as it is gambling plus no alcohol for sale............mind you they open on a Sunday.

Was Omagh Orange Hall booked up?

Apparently years ago the Silver Birches was the place where the squaddies use to socialise as it was deemed a safe space......says it all.

No idea why Bradley is being mentioned in these conversations.

agreed

although Glenullin are limited in resources at the moment, their tactics lacked any imagination last weekend

Has he not won the last 2 IFCs in Derry with Glenullin? Did he also win an IFC with Newbridge? He's been managing at intermediate level for the last couple of years which complements Doran who's been managing at Senior. I've no idea if this rumour is correct but there's a logic there.

No doubt that will come in handy when Derry are playing the likes of Dublin / Kerry / Armagh / Galway.....

There is some serious vermin in our society, it is a pity that there is not a big hole to just throw them all into.  The world would be a better place without them:

Quote from: Rossfan on October 08, 2024, 01:38:54 PMAnd Hamas fired off some from Gaza last week.

45,000 dead and probably twice that maimed and still War criminal Netanyahu and his arms and money suppliers haven't "won" their "war".
Why are these cnuts allowed to invade and bomb, murder etc a Sovereign State and the World looks the other way?

It is very hard to fathom why. If you look in Lebanon they are doing the same too.

Something will eventually be a step too far but the question is what and when. It needs to be son.
Past that point already I'm afraid. That country is destroyed for generations. All the peace efforts of the 90s and since ruined by Netanyahu. You could call him an idiot but it was probably his design from day one.

He can call himself the proud architect of probably the greatest terrorist recruitment drive we've seen and that is saying something. All those orphans and kids who have seen everything and everyone they know blown to bits this last year. They will never forget and no prizes for guessing what a lot of them will be doing when they reach adulthood. Like I said peace process put back generations. Probably quickest solution now would be to wipe out every Palestinian so there is no one to avenge. I'm sure it's something he has thought of and wishes he could do.

The comparisons with the Nazis (ironically) is hard to avoid.  Hopefully Netanyahu and a few of his honchos will end up in a bunker some day like AH and do mankind a massive favour.

Not too familiar with Lurgan but is there a tendency for middle class people to align more with a specific club or clubs?

Would most people in Derry not think that the 'final' is actually next Sunday in Owenbeg?

The DUP keeping their powder dry at the moment on this one.

Something tells me when the JD trial starts they might not come out in a good light so probably thinking best not to throw stones within their current glass house.

I saw earlier in the week 2 people had resigned from SF having given references.

Suffice to say they will slip them back into the organisation again when all dies down.

Evil people.

Destroying every country beside them, after stealing their land etc., then claiming self-defence.

As I say, evil people.

An absolute shower of tramps.

They are nothing but a bully and there always comes a time when a bully picks a fight with the wrong person.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on September 24, 2024, 12:42:59 AMWould take a brave man to even have them top 5 in Ulster at this stage?

Why, have half of the team left as well, that we're not aware of?

Only winding haha.

I'd have them at Number 4 now though I reckon.

Still a bit of an underwhelming appointment though.
Us and Donegal would have to be ahead of them given the last results when the teams met. Remains to be seen how Tyrone do but surely the talent is there with them.

Would expect there to be no more than a kick of a ball between any of those 4 teams next year.

Sensible post couldn't disagree with any of it!

Derry have 3 starting players from Slaughtneil. I'm sure Shane, Brendan and Chrissy were consulted about Mark Doran before any approach. He definitely seems to have done a good job with  Slaughtneil in his 2 seasons there so they must be content that he can step up to senior county level as manager. I'd be happy enough with the appointment as long as there's a strong backroom team along with him.

Does Doran have any inter county experience be it with the minors,U20s as a coach/selector?

Yes

From Irish News yesterday

The Longstone man, who won an All-Ireland minor title with Down in 1999, was in charge of Castlewellan for five years before being drafted into Paddy Tally's Mourne County backroom team.

He later went on to work with Colm Collins during the final year of a decade-long stint in charge of the Banner, before spending last year working alongside Oisin McConville in Wicklow.

It is understood Doran had been sounded out about a coaching role with All-Ireland finalists Galway next year, while he was also strongly linked with the Monaghan job, prior to the announcement of Gabriel Bannigan's appointment on Thursday night.

Alongside fellow Down man Jerome Johnston sr, Doran led Ballybay to a first county crown in a decade two years ago, and is believed to have been on a list of preferred candidates to replace Vinny Corey following his shock exit from the Farney job last month,

Instead, though, it is Aughnamullan man Bannigan – uncle of Monaghan player Miceal – who takes up the reins, appointed on a three-year term, with a review after two. His management team includes Mayo legend Andy Moran, former Farney stalwart Damien Freeman and Tyrone native John McElhone

On the presumption that this role is still vacant it would not surprise me if Galway are in discussions with a very high profile former county manager who won an Ulster title a couple of years ago.

Quote from: Look-Up! on September 29, 2024, 10:03:51 AMAnyone who thinks Netanyahu wants peace between Palestinians and Israelis, and Hamas are the barrier to this are absolutely insane and little point discussing anything with them. The irony of the statement "read your history lad"!!

I suppose we could ask what happened to the last democratically elected Israeli Prime minister who got in on a platform of promoting peace in their country and also with their neighbours, or what Netanyahu and his sc**bag mates had to say or do about it. But history doesn't go back as far as 1995 for some people.
Exactly that. Netenyahu's fingerprints were all over the murder of Yitzhak Rabin. He became Prime Minister soon after and never wanted peace.. just the annihilation of Palestine and more land-grab. Netenyahu is the epitome of evil can be spoken of in the same mould of Hitler. The irony...

Agree 1000%

Carrickcruppen v Wolfe Tone's
Clann Éireann II v St Paul's

Is that 2 Lurgan Teams in Senior and Intermediate Semi Finals?
Clan na Gael & Clann Éireann in SFC semi finals.

Clann Éireann II & St Paul's in IFC semi finals.

Tone's men wouldn't thank you for calling them a Lurgan team, but they're only a couple of mile out the road.

Lurgan must be one of the strongest GAA Towns in the country.

Tralee and Killarney only towns that I can think of that can compare.
There are 5 GAA clubs (3 senior football, 1 intermediate football and 1 junior hurling) in the town, and a healthy smattering of neighbouring clubs in the immediate surroundings.

At the minute football is thriving in the town, Clann Éireann and St Peter's both have big numbers at the minute and have had immediate success with their seconds teams.

St Peters, St Paul's, Clann na Gael, Clann Eireann, Eire Og, Wolf Tones and Sarsfields.

Is Eir Og not Craigavon?
everything past portadown sort of blends into one!

Am I right in saying Lurgan Portadown and Craigavon are the one metropolis anyways?

Urbanally planned to ease pressure off Belfast but Abandoned?
Portadown and Lurgan were their own towns. Lord Craigavon (James Craig) wanted to build a metropolis in the middle and it didn't work. We now have 3 shitholes...

I have always found this to be case, all just one big urban sprawl.
