If there are 2 teams from Ards in the final, surely it's only logical to play the final over there, particularly if the ferry isn't running.

Always think that Down goalie, Neil Collins, in early 90s is unfairly overlooked in these sort if things. Very consistent and reliable keeper.

Barry Owens the Fermanagh full back I always rated as a rolls Royce of a footballer, I never saw him have a poor game.

Mayobridge had some great clashes with Crossmaglen too, same story, they could never get over the line.

Ben O'Carroll isn't playing for Brigids, their attack looks very average without him.

Quote from: ardtole on September 15, 2024, 09:48:54 AMWith the new proposed rule changes for the upcoming county season; and having to keep 3 players inside the opposition 45, who is Laverty likely to go with?

I'm thinking the likes of McGovern and Savage would thrive in the extra space.

Also, with the award of 2 points from outside the 45, would this mean a more significant role for the likes of Rory Mason.

If were pinning our ulster hopes on those 3 lads, we're at a low ebb

You would imagine Havern would be one of the 3, maybe interchanging with Murdock at times, if that's permitted. Unfortunately it's an area we don't have a lot of options in, or quality in contrast to a lot of other counties.

There were 2 games played in Down last night, and qf draw and venues have been decided for this weekends games.

Sounds similar to a lot of Armagh fans after the Ulster final.

I've been fortunate enough to be talking to someone with a bit of an insight into the proposed rule changes for football next year and I think we could all be pleasantly suprised by the effect it might have.

Kevin Feeley (Kildare) was on the smaller fish podcast this week and although not directly involved in the trial games, the players he knew, participating were very enthusiastic.

Down v Armagh this year was dreadful in my opinion, I go to a lot of games but I thought that was probably the worst game I was ever at and I really hope Jim Gavin and his team get this right.

How the hell can goal nets be offensive. Considering some towns and villages throughout the north are plastered in red, white and blue and very little said about it.

I've backed Camross to win Laois SHC, I see they lost to Rathdowney 2 or 3 weeks ago. What is the current state of affairs? I find it difficult to get results and fixtures on the Laois gaa site.

Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling

He had Dessie Hutchinson in the half back line at one stage.

The extreme defensive set up has been found out by most coaches at this stage. Even Davy relented with it towards the end of his Waterford reign, due to pressure from the playing squad apparently.

In fairness to Davy, he generally gets a bounce wherever he goes, but what would be considered a success for Antrim?

They avoided relegation narrowly last year, although Offaly will probably be stronger opposition than Carlow.

Would a top 3 spot in Leinster be achievable? It would be a huge statement if they did.

Saul is quite a large parish and up until 25 years ago was largely rural. I'd imagine they are benefiting from the significant residential developments, particularly towards the Downpatrick end of the parish over the past 20/25 years.

In fairness other clubs have had similar large population increases over these years too, but Saul have definitely capitalised on them.
