Have any people/clubs on here had any experience of synthetic goalmouths (on an otherwise normal pitch).  Would you recommend them, what sort of cost are you talking about?

Lecale2

Ballycastle have installed them at their new pitches. You could contact them.

I don't know how they look after them (or if they need it) but they aren't bad in Ballycastle. Maybe the bounce is a bit high from a long ball but they seem ok if your club can afford them!!
the difference between success and failure is energy

supersarsfields

If i remember right I think Derrytresc in Tyrone have an area of synthetic turf.

I know there's something like that in dundalk, anyone know whereabouts?

Clonoe (Tyrone) had them a few years ago, but not sure how long they lasted

I' nearly sure they still have them.

Kentucky Blue

Think it's definitely a good idea to preserve the ground around the goalmouth.

I can recall, allbeit a few years back a club in south derry getting a lorry load of stones into their goalmouth and a few die-hard club men shoveling them out level with long tail shovels before the beginning of a minor game!  :D

I dare say the golaie didnt strain himself too much to dig, otherwise he would have been cut into ribbons!

soft nordies. Afraid of a bit of mud.

WE (clonoe) still have them sore on the knees but so was the old goal mouths full of sand and stones.

Not sure on cost total was £6000 but from memory what this included i cant remember am sure it included other work on field

Oriel Park is a completely synthetic pitch but I think these boys are on about special sections for around the goals
