Ah now Jinxy, dont be like that.

We have a good team alright but we havent blown anyone away. But we've got this far and we ran Tyrone close already in the league so who knows what can happen.  Tyrone are generally regarded as the strongest minor team in the country at the minute so it'll be a hard task.

This was the team that lined out in the quarter finals:

1 Padraig Curran, St Peters, Dunboyne
2 Stephen O'Brien, Ratoath
3 Ciaran Lenehan, Skryne
4 Sean Curran, Donaghamore/Ashbourne
5 Enda Nulty, Round Towers
6 Tommy Johnson (Capt), St Martins
7 Donnacha Tobin, Blackhall Gaels
8 Jamie Owens, Nobber
9 Damian Carroll, Ballinabrackey
10 Darragh Smyth, Bective
11 Michael Newman, Round Towers
12 Mark Collins, Duleek/Bellewstown
13 Jake Regan, O'Mahonys
14 Andrew Tormey, Donaghamore/Ashbourne
15 Mark Battersby, St Vincents/Curraha

Even that team had a few players missing, for example Silke

Two great players, will be sadly missed in the royal county

Dave Kilkenny won the U21 two years ago, they were in the minor AI final last year and are again in it this year. Ballyhale won the Club All Ireland last year and had it not been for injuries they would have made a good stab at winning it again.

Likewise Limerick made an AIF last year and this year they've sacked their manager and it looks like they're out of good players, alot can happen over a year.

Perhaps but Offaly still have a young team, the likes of Diarmuid Horan being one of the senior stars while still u21 is always a good sign :)

Ok I understand that but the likes of the Dublin vs. galway u21 AIF last year showed that someday the 15 of each team can make a county senior team and do wonders. Kilkenny do have the occasional great player in an underage panel but they don't seem to shine like Sheflin and Walsh. Kilkenny clubs haven't made a strong impact this year either (apart from Conahy Shamrocks who the AI JHC) but that's only junior.

Ok guys for the record when I mentioned those Dublin fans earlier i was not talking about people on GAA boards, I am on plenty of other networks where every Meath GAA page is sabotaged by stuck up Dubs. I'm really sorry if I offended anyone here about it :(

All the good ones are here  ;)

*I cant imagine everyone here thinking "god help us if they are the good ones"

Dude you're right there, so we're all ok then?

Without a doubt the best free taker is Emlyn Mulligan (Leitrim) just unknown (for obvious reasons)

Ciarán Lyng? (Wexford)

As good as Forde and does as much work but not a household name (deserves to be though)

This thread seems to get revived every few months!

To answer your questions,
and everyone hates Clonkill (mostly due to success, All-Ireland champs in February).
[/quote]

Oh you don't need to tell me that everyone hates Clonkill, I happen to come from Kiltale (Meath SHC Champions) who were hammered by Clonkill in the Leinster IHC, and go to school in Mullingar with loads of Clonkill heads, everyone there hates them :D

Provincial championships are a waste of time. The local rivalries would still be there as neighbouring counties will have to rub off each other sooner or later in the All Ireland championship. I really like the idea of seeded groups, 8 groups of 4 followed by knock out stages. The seedings determined by the National Leagues.

No don't seed it. if you get the likes of a group like Kerry, Monaghan, Longford and Carlow it's quite obvious who'll qualify. Do an open draw so a weak group like Carlow, Waterford, London and Clare can happen. If two teams qualify from this group it will boost Morale and encourage more youth to play the game, perhaps improving the likes of Munster football (obv. excluding kerry and Cork in this remark)

BTW I don't agree with this format (soccer style) but it is better than seeded grouping

As far as I know Kilkenny's u21 team this year was the first success they had underage in years so there's not alot developing there, Sheflin and the likes won't be around forever. in time Offaly will put up a good match against Kilkenny and I believe are up there with the likes of Clare and Waterford
