Bye bue camross ...i dont think anyone cares
Disappointed to see them lose yesterday, would have liked to see them get a run out against Ballyhale.

Camross got decent start but Naomh Eanna absolutely blitzed them. Could have had another 2-3 goals Goalie save on Dean Delaney before HT would have brought it closer but camross had too much to do 2nd half. No 8 at midlfield carried a fair amount of ball and did good bit of damage. Very wrists hurlers spread ball around fairly well. Will give Ballyhale a decent game I'd say.
How did the tooth fairy play?

Didn't get a run. On the bench.

From one farce to another. Dooley free to play for Camross in Leinster Club. Anthony Stapleton 4 week suspension.

simple way of reducing the championship from 16 to 12 teams. In Limerick they reduced their hurling championship from 16 to 12 in one year by dividing the 16 clubs in 4 groups of 4. The two team teams in each group progress to quarter finals. The bottom team in each group automatically relegated.

Unfortunately you are left in the position that the intermediate champions do not gain automatic promotion that year. If you wanted to give them promotion then you could have the 3rd place teams in the group play relegation semi-finals and relegation final with one team eventually losing out.

If you were to go the whole hog (which I would do). Top eight teams progress to quarter finals and bottom eight teams relegated to intermediate.
Then for the start of the following year's championship (2020) I would then create my four regional sides meaning that their are 12 teams in the championship (8 individual clubs and 4 regional sides). Any club that is not playing at senior level, their players are eligible to play senior for their regional side (similar to kerry model). If a club is promoted to senior then those players are no longer eligible to play for the regional team. Therefore every club is playing individually at their right level and it will do away once and for all with some of these ridiculous amalgamations that we have e.g. crettyard/spink where some of the spink (in reality Ballinakill hurlers) players are kicking a football for the first time that year playing in a competitive championship match.

It's just a thought but it would really strengthen our championship and could be fully up and running by championship 2020.

Great post and it should  definitely be considered by the county board. Let's hope they are reading 😉

Great point but I'd be surprised if county board bought into some common sense though.

Abbeyleix will probably be the most disappointed this year.
2 years ago I really enjoyed the fast and exhilarating hurling they brought to the championship.
B/K will also be very disappointed.
Huge amounts of underage championships but a lot have not progressed but most are young yet.
Ballinakills work rate was a joy to watch. Very little more would have got them to a final.
Portlaoise have some lovely young hurlers so hoping they remain at the top table next year.

It was good to see the likes of Tommy Fitz getting to lift a trophy as captain for Portlaoise. A real leader in the town who hopefully will be brilliant addition in Laois senior hurling set up aswell in 2019 as is Cahir Healy. Good to see him recovered from the knee injury from last years relegation final. They peaked at the right time in the championship. Will be a huge task for them to maintain senior status next year but definitely possible. You feel for the likes of Conor Dunne and John Brophy soldiering with Harps and county for years. They have good young lads coming through and just getting them up to physicality if senior hurling which I felt was where the Harps lost out on those 50/50 balls. You'd imagine they'll come again and will be exposed to senior league hurling at least for now.

I think we'll have a Kilcavan v Annanough final. Surely Annanough can lift it a bit from scraping by Camross?

Good win for O'Dempseys the other night vs kilcavan. The club will be on a high after the seniors win last night.

Annanough scraped by Friday night in Crettyard. Poor game lots of mistakes. Park left that behind them too many chances missed up front. Annanough tired midway in 2nd half but grinded it out near the end. Would not be surprised to see O'Dempseys winning the final.

Anyone hear the Eddie Brennan interview on off the ball last night........ Sounds like he's going back to basics and simplifying the game with striking, control, first touch being most important. Apparently kk had it very stripped back with huge intensity during drills and games. Could be a fairly good year no

Just listened to it there now on OTB. Great interview seems to want to do the simple things extremely well, which we have overlooked at times. First touch in Laois has been poor in past couple of years so hopefully will be somewhat rectified over time. Ariel ball we've struggled a lot aswell no big figure to catch ball since willie Hyland. Hopefully lads will buy into it and great to have 2 good selectors on board. Would be more optimistic if we can get the best players to commit.
I wonder will similar approach be adopted in underage development squad. Such an onus on gameplays and seem to forget the fundamentals in hurling.

Any truth in the Maguire rumours? Could be a new most expensive defender mistake in the world

fixed that for you

You'd be better off going for bonucci and throwing darnian in a deal plus cash. Let the dust settle on this outrageous price they're looking for Maguire. Taking the biscuit.

No room for sentiment anyway with Ross dropped! :o

Figured as much Ross would be dropped. Hopefully will be an addition as a sub. I assume Damo o'conor will drop back and leave Kingston and O'Carroll inside. Hopefully be in the game by half time at least and give it a right crack. Can't wait!
