Correct hurlingmad, amalgamation is the way forward not this whole "Gaels" scenario which is absolutely ridiculous and will not help develop hurling in the county in any way. Amalgamating the whole way from juvenile to senior (or whatever grade) can help young lads in the juvenile sides identify with the new club set up and help them to play hurling at a higher level than might ever have been possible with their own club, surely this can only be good. Realistically though there will always be people in those clubs who will object to it , you just have to hope that their are enough forward thinking people involved to be able to sit down with each other and come up with a solution that suits both clubs or whatever no. of clubs are involved.

No, not been sensitive at all redsetanta, it reads Castletown-?? Have parted company with Paul Cuddy, to any reasonable mind that infers that Castletown got rid of him, which couldn't be further from the truth so I was just making clear what happened as I have always found the truth to be much more interesting than rumours or innuendo.

Ogie, Thank You for your reply, I did say in my post that hopefully it was unintentional and obviously now after what you have said, it was. I enjoy the discussions that take place on the this forum so please keep it up.

No idea on who is in for Ballinakill role but would love to hear from anyone who does.

Ogie, your comment above that Castletown "Have parted company with Paul Cuddy" is misleading and disrespectful to a man who has given his all for club and county over the last 20 years or more, hopefully it was unintentional. The facts are that Paul took the decision himself to not put himself forward for re-appointment as Castletown manager for 2017. What the man achieved in leading Castletown to a Senior league final (albeit beaten by a superior Rathdowney team on the day) and a Senior A Championship win in 2016 was a brilliant achievement especially considering the mess he inherited when taking over in 2015 after the acrimonious split with Slieve Bloom. He has returned his beloved club to the Senior ranks of Laois Hurling in a very healthy state (approx. half of the side that finished Championship final in 2016 were under 21 years of age)  and his hope as is mine is that the club will continue to grow and prosper over the next few years and beyond. He has more than earned the right to make whatever decision suits him and his family best and rest assured it was done with integrity and professionalism which are the hallmarks of the man.
