I am male.  I also watched it with the other half.  But it was actually me who wanted to watch it.
Did you cry?

There would be something wrong with me if I hadn't.

Thinking of heading to see Alice in Wonderland at the weekend. Apparently it's more like the book and not Disney, so really dark. Has anyone heard any reviews from stateside? Or have any of our US residents seen it yet?

Truth beknown, I want to see the Doctor Who 3D teaser before the film too  ;D

Ah come on, its not that sad?!

But seriously, every female I talk to cried during it (well more towards the end).

i did not cry (hard as nails) but i think The notebook is a great film and i wouldn't consider it a "chick" flick at all!
very touching story....and great acting in it!

Its on RTE 1 tonight!
I'm trying to decide on a really meaningful message..

ziggysego

I'll watch it tonight then, but if I cry.... I'm blaming you leenie!

Good acting? Maybe but its one of those life imitating art examples because their chemistry is obvious throughout the film. Didnt the pair fall in love on set and were an item for a while?

Its not bad, but it is overly sentimental and definitely a chick flick IMO!  ;)

abbey what makes a chick flick?

Just read the description of the notebook - I'd sooner stick pins in my eyes than sit through that nonsense.

Perhaps. I cried my eyes out when Dr. Sam Beckett didn't get home and I was rather emotional when David Tennant's Doctor started the regeneration process. :'(
